    Cheers :) I just did a bit of experimenting with stripping the paint and I'm leaving it in the sun with a healthy coating of bleach and salt on the test section while I go MOT the big stuff. Hopefully it'll do something.

    Re: Thanks for the positive replies :) Been googling rust framed bikes and if I get time today I'll definitely remove the rest of the paint. Got 2 bikes in for mot first though. Oh and I had to admit defeat last night and buy a rear cable. £1.49!

    Re: OK, it's pretty much finished. Ground lugs off, built a chain out of 2 other bits of chain and the end of my oil filter wrench and treated all the rust. I had to muck about a bit to get the chain line but it's there. The only thing I need to actually hand money over for is a bloody rear...

    Your main thing is to get something with horizontal rear dropouts, or youll have problems getting the chain length accurate.
