Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Thanks Jon Appreciate the advice. Looks like this one will go onto ebay. Little point in trying to restore an 'anonymous' frame. Can I assume that the decals are wrong also ? It has the Stan Butler transfer on the seat tube in gold - only the small panel at the top where 'special' should be is...

Wanted: early 32H alloy sprint rim 1950s-1960s or earlier

Re: Glad that you found a pair. If anyone out there has a 40H rear - rim or complete wheel - I would be very interested......

Wanted 26" x 11/4" Constrictor Asp Rims or wheels

Re: These things always seem to appear just when you have just about given up ever finding them. Madgett's is amazing and Mick's wheel building (3 pairs for me so far !) and knowledge is incredible ! Plus they are all really nice people over there so I recommend them. I am fortunate as I am...

Wanted: early 32H alloy sprint rim 1950s-1960s or earlier

Might be too late but I have an early 32H Fiamme sprint rim - the version with the Longhi patent (Brevette Longhi - with remains of the original label - probably mid/late '50's)) laced to a BH Airlite hub that I may be willing to part with. I was actually looking for a matching 40 hole rear to...

Wanted 26" x 11/4" Constrictor Asp Rims or wheels

Hilary Stone is sure to have a suitable seat post (Reynolds perhaps ?) The brake levers are less simple. The G B pre Superhood levers have adjusters that often get lost as they are not integral to the unit and comprise an aluminium knurled wheel with brass screw. Again, Hilary Stone may well...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Re: Thanks Jon I have added photos showing the frame number stamped into both dropouts - although one is not very clear as it has been somewhat 'chewed up' but wheel nuts. Also a picture of the number stamped into the fork tube. Lastly I have added a photo of the seat cluster. I hope that this...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Hi Terry, Thanks for the photo. I have considered the twin cable Cyclo for the Allin (Nick Tithecott has got some of these I think - NOS) I have a '37 BSA Gold Vase frame with a cyclo braze on - and yes - the Simplex fits ! It should do as the Birmingham cyclo mech was a copy of the original...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Hi Terry, I had to smile when I read yours. I made a huge mistake when I checked wheel sizes and brake reach etc for this frame. I measured the forks only - then found a pair of 26 inch constrictor rims - only to realise that rear calliper bracket to dropout distance demands 27 inch ...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Re: Thanks Terry What I did not mention was that the frame has twin brazed on lugs and guides for shifters - highly unlikely for a frame from this date - and they do not appear to have been added later. Certainly I could remove those on the left side - but should I ? Also, I have been...

Help with thread form on Simplex Rear Derailleur

Re: Depends what you want to do. I would have thought that finding a bolt with the correct thread should be relatively easy. Alternatively find a slightly larger (known thread) one and drill/tap to the new thread.

Help with thread form on Simplex Rear Derailleur

Re: I have 2 (pre plastic pulley) Tour De France mechs. Both are threaded into the hanger and into the locknut. The look M5 to me - but - one has a coarse thread - the other fine. This mech was in production a long time and they produced millions (with many variations). Sorry - not much help I...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

I am new on here and am seeking information on an Allin frame that I have recently acquired and intend to restore. This one is becoming something of a challenge as the frame number (672 - on both rear dropouts and on the fork tube)) would seem to indicate that it is quite early post war. The...
