Atalia - 8 or 9 speed campag? - is that possible...

It seems likely. And yes, its a high end, lightweight tube set. I have an Atala from a similar era (late 90s) that is also built with that tubing. See the link in my signature. 👍

Finished my dream Contini build but don't know much about the brand

Gorgeous! Love the matched stem, and the choices for your build. Are you looking for coloured cages to match the frame or polished metal? The blue could really work if it was a colour match. 😁

Sorted Any one have a set of long drop shimano calipers?

What is your budget? I run TRP 957s on my Audax bike which are excellent but pricey new. The other best options in my opinion are the Velo Orange Grand Cru and Shimano BR650s.

1990? Al Carter Saratoga II - much lipstick for this pig

Nearing completion on this. Purple bolts for the chainrings. old JD Components bottle cage, £2 from a jumble. RD fitted and shifting well; £3 Ebay special lower pulley for more purple delight. Another couple of quid to the co-op for this seatpost QR (they didn't have purple)...

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

Ahh the future centrepiece of my fantasy bike museum. :p I love it, found these wonderfully of-their-time catalogue pages when researching it.

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

CLB had some wonderful caliper designs, there is a subtle Art Nouveau feel to the curves of the caliper here that carries through from their older brakes. The transformer/Tron styling is brilliantly cheesy too, would love a pair. The ads and brochures were great. I love the variety of caliper...

1990? Al Carter Saratoga II - much lipstick for this pig

After cleaning everything usable up, sorting bits from my stash and getting a few orders in I laid everything out ready to assemble. I spent ages derusting and respraying the stem but didn't take any before/after pictures. I got the riser bars from my local bike co-op for a couple of quid...

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

Super lightweight but apparently the first gen was prone to breakages! They would look snazzy though (and are the right era) for my Look project... 😄

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

My weightweenie mate ran these for a few months, until the lack of any float and the third or fourth fall at some traffic lights put him off. Incredibly light but very hard to clip out of. I was never tempted 😆

Yep, their naming conventions are all over the shop. The Mistral front derailleur is a horrible plasticy job, along with the shift levers (they are like the Modolo 'carbon fiber' ones) so my intended build is all Premier where possible. They even packaged them this way as complete groups.

1990? Al Carter Saratoga II - much lipstick for this pig

I'm sure the more purple parts I bolt onto it the less wrong it becomes? Or is it the other way round? 🤔😄

1990? Al Carter Saratoga II - much lipstick for this pig

Did a trade with @DuoTech for these LX cranks. A year or two later than the rest of the bike, but still in keeping I think. They were a bit grubby and scratched, but cleaned up well with some elbow grease and a bit of black enamel. I bought some Chinese purple ano chainring bolts off eBay to...

Film and TV stars and their bikes!

Robin Williams was truly one of us, passionate about bikes and riding them. And with a Zipp 2001, two legends in one image.

@Guinessisgoodforyou Yeah, I spotted your black and pink one when researching this. I'd noticed posting an Al was a bit of a bat-signal for you! 😄

All the components were a state! The purple bits were all upgrades made by the first owner - I believe these are Tektro cantis as they look identical to these; https://www.velosaloon.com/collections/tektro/products/pink-tektro-cantilever-brake-set-from-the-1990s The link cables are the wrong...

1990? Al Carter Saratoga II - much lipstick for this pig

Hi folks. I'm usually on the road side of the forum but this daft project has had me lurking over here a whole lot more. I bought this bike secondhand as a 17 year old in the early 2000s. I believe its from 1990, possibly 1991? The lad who owned it before me had made a few little upgrades...

The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

Ofmega are a mysterious but fascinating company to me - they made loads of forgettable Campagnolo clone products, but then came out with some beautifully designed and finished components that still stand out from the crowd. The plastic Mistral RD definitely tends toward the 'weird,' but the...
