    Vitus 992 project

Thanks for the nice comments all. Yeah these wheels don't work with everything, but I'm glad you agree with my sensibilities - finding that elusive sense of balance and 'rightness' is something I really strive for with these builds. The skewers are a bit ott! 😄 Might replace with some shorter...

    My Italian and Belgian bikes

The Pinarello is stunning, woweee. I like all the little flashes of fluro yellow on the components that tie them to the frame. 👍

Great bikes everyone. 😁 Well done Nob, a beautiful replica. Non-fixie's Faggin is a stunner too.

1990 Raleigh Dyna Tech Cronos Titanium (56)

What a great end result, elegant, understated but with so many excellent details and careful decisions. My kind of build! 👍👍👍 I would be out with the contact adhesive sticking those shoes back together! I'm amazed at how my current Sidis are lasting despite countless miles in all weathers.

    Which wheels are better?

Ksyriums are very durable in my experience. Depending on generation a good lightweight option too. Not the most aero though, so if I am riding at pace I much prefer a deeper section wheelset.

    AL CARTER mountain bikes

My old man dropped this off at the weekend! I got this bike secondhand from a lad in the village when I was about 16, rode it a lot until I was at uni in the mid 00s, then road cycling led me down the clean tarmac path and it hung in my dad's shed ever since. I'd knackered the crank so he put...

rBoTM RBotM August 2024 - Theme month - Racers and Race Replicas - Enter now!!!

@Mike Muz - This one isn't particularly light, but that's mostly down to the wheels. I haven't weighed it but it's probably 8.5/9kg. The bare frame is pretty good so you could definitely get a light build out of one. It's a great ride, smooth and much stiffer than a 979. The previous owner of my...

rBoTM RBotM August 2024 - Theme month - Racers and Race Replicas - Enter now!!!

Here's my Vitus 992, partly rebuilt this summer. This frame was the true beginning of my retro bike obsession and it's been fun to bring it closer to perfection this year. One of the great satisfactions of this hobby is the slow hunt for components and the little tweaks to details to refine a...

1987 CINELLI Supercorsa Donna Sophisticated Lady. Another one? Really???

Great project. Love the attention to detail with the stenciling and logo spraying. Do you have a vinyl cutter to make them?

    Trek 5500

Its a 1997 model I believe. See this one; https://rob.bikerevuk.com/mybikes/oclv.html Post 1999 they came with threadless steerers and Ahead style stems. Yours has a quill adaptor to allow it to run the ahead clamp on stem. RB has the 1997 Trek catalogue archived here...

No the search continues! This is a very slow burn project with no hurry at all. Thanks for having a look for me but I will give it a miss for now as it's only a single hub.

Buying using Leboncoin from the UK?

Thanks Woz for the clear information. Chimes with my surface understanding of how the platform currently works. I'm sure Brexit hasn't done us any favours either. I'll drop you a PM, cheers! 👍
