    Copper grease?

I use white lithium grease, and I slap it on with a paintbrush in places like a bottom bracket. Slather it on the threads on the frame, and slather more on the threads on the bottom bracket, and then slather on some more just to be safe. Get plenty on your seatpost too, and check that at least...

    Pets

Dangerous little fluffers thats for sure. I think out of all the animals a vet sees, the cat is the only one they need welders gauntlets when handling.

    Wanted Hope rear hub 12x142

I didnt actually get around to that as after googling and asking on the STW forum i got conflicting advice and was informed that they do 2 hub sizes. I'd trust the STW advice over google results. I might also have a Hope email, as it was a few years back and i cannot remember for 100% So a...

    Wanted Hope rear hub 12x142

Im not 100% sure about that. I got a 142mm pro4 enduro new in the sales,I hadnt realized at the time it was 142, thought it was 148mm(serves me right from not reading the description properly) and bought the 148mm boost kit. But when I went to do the same on a 135 i was told by Hope that was a...

Gash Riding! YouTuber dices with fate.

 Runs red lights with complete impunity, weaves around things like vans, which block her view completely as she then goes onto pedestrian crossings and has to suddenly swerve around the pedestrian she finds there. Entitled 4r5ehole. Cyclist death/injury statistics in the US are pretty...

    Mystery bike

Looks like it to me. They've welded in triangular fillets bracing the seat and chainstays, which would indicate theres been some sort of issue there at some time. TBH theres nothing on the frame worth buying. Might be a Hope rear hub, but then again that might just be a sticker.

BoTM Bike of The Month August 2024 "USA Special" - now taking entries

I'm actually going to throw this one into the hat, though with the competition I'm not holding out much luck. I suppose the thing it has going for it is every bit is of original catalog spec and of near showroom condition.

Wanted Older (chunkier) Hope headset 1 1/8

Not sure you can replace bearings on that type. I've seen a number where the bearing has been removed, then put on ebay probably because they couldnt get a replacement to fit. I have a gold one in the spares box. If interested. TBH I don't think theres that much difference between an early...

    Changing headsets help pls :)

I've just replaced a lower cup on a bike. A wonderful bastardization of a 50mm headtube and fitted a Hope type stepdown 1.5" to 1 1/8", which is 49mm. Bought 1/2mm alloy sheet to cut a strip to shim it with. I didnt use a press and only have the threaded rod and several big washers, and tbh it...

Judy 95 steerer, is it knurled or even?

I doubt it is knurled or it would damage the crown on the way in when originally fitted. Plus knurling isnt going to give a tight interference fit

    Paris Olympics

I find it amusing(or saddening) that many of the disciplines that do well get less in the way of funding than many of the more popular sports. It must be hard for daily mail readers to congratulate the cycling teams on their successes, when throughout the year they're reading stories demonizing...

    Best way to store bikes

I'd avoid any long term storage in a shed, cellar or garage as theres too much moisture in the air, which is going to promote rusting. The bike, steel framed, can rust from the inside out. So maybe dismantle, box up those bits and it will make storing the frame/whe4els a lot easier
