I keep looking at it, because it does look so familiar, it might well be something he made for the frame, but the design does look reminiscent of the Fisher Rhino stems.

its shows just how much of what was happening back then was experimental/evolution. A Yates e-stay with Columbus Max...., thats a lot of History right there.
