    2nd upgrade Jan Janssen

I finaly completed this Caballero project this winter. And also shown in rBoTM of february. Maybe to early. Last month I did mount a MAFAC racer brake kit including the original '70 levers. Last week I did add a more time related bottle cage. And yesterday I got my wish completed, a really...

Hinds is Back on The Road

Nice job done. Really nice bike. Also so some splended details, the welded pump-"head" for example. I love the Universal brakes, but please place ther stradles the other way arouynd as they should be. Really one for the RBotM.

rBoTM February 2013 - Vote Now!

Just for the record. Not to try to vote you for mine. As suggested by someone earlier I did "update" (or is it to be called "downdate") last saturday my Caballero with '70 MAFAC's including the levers which I already had, but not mounted yet. To make it more time related. Very pleased that I...

rBoTM February 2013 - Nominations Please

1976 Caballero (Jan Janssen) Replica of the teambike of the '60-'70 Caballero team in The Netherlands at that time. The team hadn't a material sponsor. The riders did buy their own bikes (which were payed by the team) which were resprayed into the team colours.

They are for sale, and not only expensive Campaganolo. I bought them in the past for my ALAN's.

Peugeot Course PFN10 with Vitus 172 frame

I agree. Can recall that I wanted to buy this or a Koga Miyata at that time. By the way, the front fork is chromed, which is not the case on the one in the (Dutch) folder.

    Bit-by-bit Frame ID

I know Gazelle in Holland did that for a really short period in between the two sorts of mounting bottlecages. But they were from a other shape than these here.

    (Not so) Freewheels

Not being Old Ned, but enjoying your nice topic, as a freewheel dismantle fan myself, I think this way of cablerouting was not done in 1972. It was then on top of the BB.

    Arrrgh! Freewheel removal hell...

Look here http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=230338 what I did. Not the most common way, but nevetheless it worked...

    Cable Outers

Modern outer cables are builded otherwise. More to the exact use of it. The treads are in length instead of rounded up by cirkels so to speak as the old ones were. You need even a special kind of tool to cut them to the right size. This difference is because of the more precise type of indexing...

    1965 holdsworth rolling rebuild

If I lived in the neighboorhood I would swap the Campagnolo's for some 1970 Mafacs levers, which I have. :D But indeed, Mafac and Universal '60/'70 brakes are awesom. [/img]

    Freewheels: To service or not?

I did last week open an old Shimano freewheel which was still on the axle. As I didn't have the right tool to remove it. I removed the whole inner bits and removed the body so to speak. And I managed (with some help of a book) to complete the freewheel afterwards again with all the tiny parts...

    1960's Torpado Road Bike

Nice bike, one for the rBoTM. Campagnolo OK, but please keep those Universal brakes. So nice... Even nicer and more original to this bike as even old Campagnolo record ones. :D
