Would it be possible to restore this head badge??

It's the kind of thing that makes sense for the kind of person who does everything him/herself. I would have no hesitation getting out my paints and reading glasses, and sitting down at a brightly lit workspace with the radio on and a bottle of beer open, take my time, do the best I can. If that...

    trying to find high quality26 x 1 3/8 tyres

Really! As you can imagine, not all experts agree. The big proponent of fatter lower pressure tires is Jan Heine. Google him, there's a lot of stuff on this subject. But basically, you get no benefit from higher than necessary tire pressure. You can figure out what you need from a table...

Brooks B15 and Campag seatpost dating / id

The Brooks saddle has a patent number. That disappears some time in the early 60's (I've seen them on saddles dated A59 - C63). They aren't always dated, but I'd definitely clean up the underside of that cantle plate, especially at the right end (the right end, when the bike is upright, that is).

    trying to find high quality26 x 1 3/8 tyres

I like the Panaracer Col-de-la-Vie tires. You don't have to run them at high pressure; they seem fast enough at 55 rear, 45 front. Higher pressure tires aren't necessarily faster.

Would it be possible to restore this head badge??

I'm sure it's possible, but it may be difficult. Is it just paint, or actual enamel (melted glass)? If paint, I'd do it myself, one color at a time, very carefully. For enamel, I'd try to find someone who works that medium. That wouldn't be cheap.

Claud Butler Olympic Sprint (Final pics 20/06/13)

I have what appears to be a similar frame, photos here: https://picasaweb.google.com/rudimayr/W ... directlink As you will see, it has 'Witcomb' decals, newish paint (or powdercoat), no mudguard eyelets, and a lower frame number (1492). But other than a few other Claud Butler Olympic Sprints...

    Another mystery frame.

Nervex head lugs came with a lip around the top and bottom, which is not evident in your photo. Of course it is possible the maker filed the lip off; but it is also possible that your lugs are not actually Nervex. Many makers (Windsor comes to mind) made bikes with imitation Nervex lugs.

'50s Period Wheels - What concessions to make? (if any!)

Finding any pair of 32/40 rims is very difficult. Dunlop Special Lightweight rims (of the chromed steel variety) were still stock on some factory made bikes in the early 60's, such as Raleigh Gran Sport. I've never encountered the stainless ones in the real world, but have been very...
