for my GT singlespeed project, to replace nasty combo stifters. what have you got? cheap please

currently rebuilding a GT timberline for singlespeed dutys and want to ditch the nasty brake/lever combo It is fitted with canti's, can i fit v brake levers? Have read they have different leverages. are cantis classed as linear or direct pull? there seems to be conflicting info around

locks got one bolted to the wall with a motorbike lock, then rest are locked to each other with abus d locks and cables. most of the family work for ADT alarms so the place is like fort knox, not to mention the want to beat thieving scum to death with a rusty appollo :evil:

Any idea what this frame is ? Bought around 2002, second hand. was told it was a merlin. a copy of the santa cruz cameleon? Bonus points if you can tell me the age of the rockhopper frame in the background?

Coach bolt I made my own out of a large coach bolt, nut and a few washers sockets. Works a treat, put in 10+ headsets. Gonna modify it and weld handles to the nuts to save needing three arms to align and hold spanners! a threaded bar may not last long as the thread may not take much abuse...

Give it a whack As per other suggestions. soak it in lube. try to bolt the socket in. heat the frame gently with a heat gun or the misses hair dryer. have a mate support the frame. get a spanner on the socket, get a big hammer and hit the spanner in the direction of removal. this should...
