    Paint removal

If it's steel then get it blasted. They should be able to adjust the pressure if you're worried. If you can find a firm locally that does it then plastic media strip is your safest bet but it's not that common. We do it in our paint shop at work and they can remove the print from a coke can...

    Pace ahead stem

Re: I have not got one! (used to have two!) Anyway, one that I did have was silver and I had it re-anodised black really cheap. It came out looking like new and I'm sure gunmetal would be just the same. -just in case you never find one in the right colour...

The crank could be a Sugino XF Mighty? The seat looks like a Selle San Marco Regal? My best guess anyway!

    Anyone use helicoils...? Much sadness.

Re: Why all the obsession with metric threads? If you're replacing the screw try the various imperial options for something equivalent to the diameter you need.

    Pace RC200 F8

Cracked unfortunately. One small one at the base of the seat tube and one about an inch long on the head tube coming from the bottom edge at the front. I've seen these repaired before but having no luck contacting any of the people involved to get an idea of price or if it's even possible...

    Rockshox mag20 corrosion?

Re: sanding and painting will do the job but with magnesium as prone to corrosion and cracking as it is I'd want to be sure it wasn't going to come back!

    Rockshox mag20 corrosion?

Re: Yep. Selenious acid, a mixture of chromic and sulphuric acid or just watered down chromic acid (10:1). Be sure not to use a wire brush or any other steel based cleaning abrasives. Magnesium is highly reactive and adding steel to the surface will encourage dissimilar metal corrosion...

    kona explosif or not?

Lots of items/design names are created based on similarity with body parts. There aren't many tails at the front, feet on the top or heads at the bottom ;) As for the Explosif frame, is it possible that Kona badged up other frames as Explosif's just to clear stock? it seems odd how so many...

Pitting in cups and cones - any tips?

Re: Car wheels maybe and built to minimum cost bicycle wheels. None of my bikes have them and I've never seen a modern motorbike with tapered bearings on either wheel and thats because there're rarely any sideways forces. Apart from slow speed manoeuvring all weight/force acts radially...
