I don't think the cranks are XTR M900 although they look like the have shimano compact rings.

Does anyone have any images of the bike that might show up more details? Also would be keen to see the MBK 291 issue with the article at a better resolution.

The crank could be a Sugino XF Mighty?

The seat looks like a Selle San Marco Regal?

My best guess anyway!

Front mech looks like DX.The crank has a Campag look to it,although scratch that,its definitely a Sugino Mighty XP.Kona specced various Sugino cranks back then-Impel was one but the Mighty was the high end one.Were Xrays a bit later,95 or 96?I think in 93 Tomac was running SRT 500 Gripshift.

i am pretty sure the grips are X-Rays. The blog post on Kona World list them as X-Ray SRT600

But I think they are the 800's as it looks like the have teh clear casing. Also the red shark tooth looks like the ones from the 800 series X-Rays.

I thought I'd saved a few of the pictures from the MBUK website, but I can only find one on an old hard drive, and that doesn't show any more detail than the picture above.

thanks jim, I found the same thing re images of the bike.

I am also wondering if maybe he was running a royce rear hub rather than XTR given the stickers on the bike and that possibly the front brake calliper is not a hope one but maybe something like an earlier Formula, as It looks different from a hope especially from the image you posted above.
