Well to name a few differences, no embossed paw print at the top of the seat stays (this 1st appeared in 1987) seat tube lug isn't sculpted, seat stay bridge has an added boss, cable guides don't have a vertical slot, bottle bosses aren't a diamond shape. The group set as a whole is wrong, these...

I have one of these, I bought it new from Bike UK in 1984. These are the Ltd edition version with Bullmoose bars & the colour is err (think up your own term) Army Brown :roll:.

When using/buying etch primer always check the use by date marked on the bottom of the can.

The outer edge of the cups are rough & can take a small amount of metal from the bore when drifting out, so I wasn't taking any chances :wink: . I had already tested the blowtorch approach on another hub & it didn't damage the anodized finish, so I bit the bullet & out they fell :D .

Press out the steerer & fit one of the correct length.

There's 2 version's of the early Big Un & yours look as though its the 9mm specific type that uses the smaller 6002 bearings & it can't be converted to 20mm.

Its not just about ratios or fluid type it is about how the 2 differ. C2 requires manual adjustment of the pads, open is self adjust. So if using an open lever with a C2 caliper the piston would fully retract as they have return springs inside the piston & would result in full lever travel...
