    Chainrings for STX-RC 4 bolt

Thanks, but this is more a hypothetical question at the moment. I have 3 Marins FRS's all late 1990's all with STX-RC chainsets, some original some have been changed in-between times, but I guess all will need work at some point. I have just replaced cassettes and chains on all 3, and one...

    Chainrings for STX-RC 4 bolt

Would new Deore, or Alivio chainrings fit 4 bolt STX-RC cranks, or should I replace the whole lot with a new Deore Crankset ?

    Replacement rear shock

I got the old shock out and went to fit the new one. I tried the old Marin lower bush spacers and they are too loose (Marzochi is 12mm wide, and the old Shock Works is 13mm ish), and the supplied top bush spacers are right at 21mm but have 6mm holes, and I have a 8mm mount. So looks like I...

    My Restored Marin Alpine Trail

Looks great. Looks like you started with a 1998 or 1999 Mount Vision frame with a 1998 Alpine Trail swing arm. I love these old FRS Marins, I have a 1998 Rift Zone which I've had from new, a 1999 Rock Springs which I bought one year old and have just bought a 1998 East Peak to add to the...

    Replacement rear shock

Thanks. Yes I checked mtbr as well, reviews look good, just wondered about fitting and comparisons with the Marin shock. I seem to have the inverse problem to everyone else at getting the shock out. I can get the swing arm end out no problem, just lightly tapping a metal rod on the end...

Replaced Chain - Help - skipping/jump on chainset cycle

It happens in the middle and inner ring (higher gearing) on the front. The linkpin doesn't seem to be stiff. The rear mech alignment seems to be ok, shifts ok, unless trying to go up through 6,7,8 under acceleration. I haven't replaced anything else (yet) - just the chain. Its all...

    Replacement rear shock

I have a 1998 Marin Rift Zone, which has the original Marin labeled "Shock Works" shock, which no longer seems to dampen. Has anyone got experience of the "X Fusion Glyde" or "Marzocchi Roco F", as I wondered if either of these would be a comparable replacement.

Replaced Chain - Help - skipping/jump on chainset cycle

Replaced the chain on my 1998 Marin Rift Zone which as a LX derailleur, HG cassette, STX-RC chainset and front derailleur. I replaced with a HG chain using the same number of links as the old chain. The old chain was an IG. When I apply power in rear gears 6/7/8, the chain seems to...
