Im currently doing a 97 Zaskar rebuild (SS) and i wanted to paint it "differently". Ive thought about polished, but then you have to keep polishing it all the time & ive thought about classic white. . . but then i thought, how about "team scream" colours of yellow & sky blue. Any comments...

I have a set of these cranks. Does anyone know what "level" they are within the Shimano range(STX-LX-XT etc)? Also, approx what year are they? They're 5 arm compact drive.

Found them (DOH silly me). Absolutely deeeeeelightful - youre a very lucky chap to own a beautiful piece of kit like that. Its almost too lovely to get dirty. . . id hang it on my sitting room wall with spotlights shining on it & just drool over it if it was mine. . . :lol:

What size are generally the best "all rounders" for a single speed MTB? Im thinking 34T front - 20T rear. Any thoughts or advice? What do most peeps use?

Looks bigger than that - id say it was a 19". Specialized always used to measure their frames from BB centre to a point midway along the crossbar, not up the seat tube like most manufacturers, so this always made the frame sizes seem slightly larger than most frames of the same "inch size"...

Single speed 97 Zaskar. Just want some cheapies to get it up & running, then i can think about some nice ones later. . .

What sort of weight should i expect for a "reasonable" quality rigid fork? Around 1000gms. . . or should i expect less. How much would i expect to pay for a reasonable pair of forks - either new or used. . .? :)

Yup, thats me. . . with one "n" though as in Denis. Yes, Toots rode XC for Probike with Aimee Matthews until the shop folded. . . but she'd just won her first NPS Downhill, so she went to downhill where MBUK mag, then Giant took her on. . .

The main thing is forks. . . i want some cheap cro-mo non disc affairs, just to get it up & running so i have some in reserve - but ultimately something droolworthy like Pace RC or even a pair of Project 2's would get me rolling nicely. Its a budget bike & im doing the race for sponsorship...

Im trying to get the S?S Zaskar finished in time for the Ritchey Oktoberfest at Ashton Court next month, as im doing the single speed enduro. If its not done, ill be in the "normal" race on my Dirty Jo. Just need a few more bits. . . :roll:
