Alejandro's (Klein) Adroit 1992 Green Gator Target sub < 7Kg

Be careful with believing weights from the parts list. My parts list shows this bike to be just below 8 kg. In reality, I was unable to crack the 8 kg. It currently stands at 8280 g.

Well, obviously there is no law against riding your MTB with road race shoes. Riding the bike in off-road terrain it might just happen you need to get off the bike and walk a distance. And that's where road shoes with big cleats won't come too handy. In fact, I was out today with my unique 1x12...

Well, in fact there is another downside, I believe: Given the size of the cleats they do not nest into the profile of MTB shoe soles. This means that one cannot get off the bike and carry it if you get stuck in too difficult terrain to ride. Yes, of course, no MTB-er likes such situations but...

As I only have a Youngtimer Adroit, I am not the specialist here, but I do remember posts in other forums featuring KLEIN classic bikes saying that only blue or purple are acceptable for re-builds, depending on paint scheme of the frame. Purple is clearly not an option on Gator but would be on...

Blue is the only „accepted“ colour for that frame by the classic KLEIN purist community. Red is out of bounds here and green will most likely not match the vibrant green of the frame. Neither does the blue, but that seems to „hurt“ the eyes less.

Christian Jenny is a very good chap. He purpose built the Tune Mag 170 hub with a Shimano Microspline freehub body for my crazy Adroit Pro 1x12 conversion. I received that hub within 2 weeks after ordering. Bear in mind that he first had to modify and reassemble it before he could dispatch it to...

Look, the adapter vwbluethunde is showing in his photograph is the only clean way of making a V-brake work on this frame. The only other way is to enlarge the drill hole of the cable exit, but I beg you to refrain from this option. It would cause me and probably others here physical pain if you...

I was not referring to the 717, but to the 300 g Stan‘s 355 Race rims, as I could not find any reference to those as rim brake versions.

Re: Re: Really? With rim brakes? Disc brakes help a lot to make lower weight rims these days. At least one area, where the weight penalty of the brakes themselves can be compensated for

Hey, I did not mean to offend anyone here. I was just wondering about this astonishing low weight. Mine are built on Mavic 717 rims. I originally wanted to use the 517 version but that was no longer available in 2006 or 07-ish. 295 g for an aluminium rim even in 26“ is really extreme. Not sure I...

I wonder which Tune wheels you are talking about. Mine are also built on Tune hubs, Mig 70 and Mag 160 to be precise. On the rear wheel I have now replaced the Mag 160 with a new special build of a somewhat heavier Mag 170. The rear wheel comes in at 760 g. I don‘t exactly know what the front...

Hey, Alejandro, consider these: https://www.tubolito.com/en/product/s-tubo-mtb/ They will easily shave another 120 g from your total weight budget. In fact, they are on par with or even lighter than a tubeless configuration. They also seem to be reasonably flat tire proof. Only downside is they...

If I am seeing this right, you plan to use V-brakes. I strongly hope you refrain from drilling the the cable outlet hole off such that you can install a v-brake bowden cable hard stop. This would ruin this beautiful frame. I am very happy with my Extralite Ultralevers in combination with KCNC...

This is an awesome build of a burgundy blue Adroit. Would match perfectly with my Quantum Pro: https://www.mtb-news.de/forum/attachmen ... pg.608752/ :D

Re: Hey Alejandro, I am new to this forum as I am usually posting in the German MTB News forum. However, I could not resist opening an account here when I stumbled over this thread via the „I ride a Klein“ face book group. I started mountain biking in the Swiss Alps when I was a kid and...
