Alejandro's (Klein) Adroit 1992 Green Gator Target sub < 7Kg

Why not, perhaps I am in need for such super lightweight wheels as well, eventually, to meet my < 8 kg target  Hmm, on second thought, I have just fully rebuilt my rear wheel. Had I known about such rims before, I might have considered them; the 355 version though. I once witnessed an...

it’s not about the type or brand of pads but much more about at what angle relative to the rim wall they are installed.

Noisy brakes is a pretty sure sign of incorrectly installed pads. It isn‘t all that difficult but some basic bicycle (mechanical) knowledge certainly is helpful. As a starting point, I can recommend ParkTool‘s Blue Book. Understood, it is your bike and you can do with it whatever you want. It...

Very interesting build, congrats. The chain is massively too short as mentioned earlier by another observer. With correct chain length you will add some weight and will go above 6.7 but you will then be able to shift all gears, which I doubt you can do at the moment without damaging the entire...

Absolutely agree. These are absolutely stunning. Glad you opted for the Moonrise. I would have advised so, but I had some „electronic finger trouble“ that day. I still wonder where you guys find all these flawless almost 30 years old frames.

I just noticed that you have installed the brake levers the wrong way round. The clamp bolt heads should be accessed from the bottom side and not the top side of the handlebars.

Re: Re: Well, the sort of XC and marathon racing I did 25 to 30 years ago was then considered „proper“ mountain biking and was already pretty tough, albeit perhaps not as technical as today. And that is still the use case for my 2000 Adroit. As I said before, I would probably not dare to...

Alejandro's (Klein) Adroit 1992 Green Gator Target sub < 7Kg

I agree. What I really meant to say a couple of posts earlier was that I would certainly not do anything as radical with an original gator Adroit as I did with my 2000 Adroit, which I just converted to an all XTR 1x12 drive train. But I might be very inclined to put e.g. Tune cantilever brakes...

I tend to agree with Andy, with one caveat though. Gary Klein‘s designs and material choices were inspired by his career as an M&P engineer at Boeing. These frames and most specifically so the Adroit were at least 20 years ahead of their time. That is why I found it „legitimate“ to pair my 1995...

Hey, no need to proof anything. It is a fantastic bike. You deserve to be extremely proud. Also the choice of components is a testimony to your formidable taste. If I‘d ever had the chance to buy a gator Adroit I might run the risk of violating a fundamental bike owners law: b = n - 1, Where b...

Yes, beautiful! Perhaps it is the photograph but it seems to show the typical fading on the top tube from exposure to sun light. Other than that it is stunning. Congrats.

You are right, I was getting a bit too emotional. But I can‘t get rid of the impression that few readers here really have an appreciation of what this frame is: a piece of bicycle history and a mighty demonstration of what was technically possible at that time, lightyears ahead of other early...

It happened to all of us at one point, but few just ignore it and still take a ride, despite the quite obvious fact that something is very wrong.

Hey, sorry, but I am really getting goosebumps here. I see my most desirable bike frame in pristine condition undergoing some really weird stuff that may potentially damage this frame. That rear wheel quite obviously does have at least one big problem. It is either out of dish to the left or is...

Alejandro's (Klein) Adroit 1992 Green Gator Target sub < 7Kg

Where is the front wheel brake? In off-road terrain braking is done with about 80% front brake, which is why some modern bikes with disc brakes have larger discs in front than rear.

I think Alejandro wants to ride this bike eventually. I cannot talk about endurance of a Ti chain but I definitely know that an Aluminum cassette is only window dressing. They don‘t last more than a couple of hundred klicks. Perhaps the largest cogs coudl be alu but only if they have at least 34...

Yes, I agree, you are well on track to achieve your goal. I was just a bit surprised with the weight of my bike when it was finally finished. I can relatively easily shave another 100 g off, but after that it will become a really difficult and costly exercise. But your parts list also shows more...
