Disc mount adapter - idiots guide.

Dialled PA is IS mount isn't it? https://www.uberbikecomponents.com/view ... ur-Options Need something that looks like that. A picture of what you've got (and what you're trying to do) would work wonders ;)

    Oval vs round chain rings?

Dunno about you, but my legs go up and down......

    Oval vs round chain rings?

Which one, there's a massive variation in concepts (and execution). The Osymetric ones made me feel seasick......

    Oval vs round chain rings?

If it's already there, use it, Doesn't cost you anything to try does it...... I prefer them TBH. Especially on 1x drivelines where i occasionally have to grind it out.......

    Modern tyre advice

I use the Hans Dampf and Magic Mary, but only when it's an absolute shitfest or i'm throwing myself down steep muddy stuff. For what you're talking about, don't. They're like tractor tyres and massively over kill (basically Enduro/DH-Lite tyres). Racing Ralph or Nobby Nics would be far better...

What is light for a retro MTB ??

Oh, i also weighed about 9 stone when i was riding the 19lb torus... last time i rode it i was nearer 13 stone, and you could certainly tell the frame/forks/bars/stem etc aren't as direct as modern kit (the build as it stood then weighed nearer 24-25lbs, with coil forks (not air) and some bog...

MTB club rule says hardtail or full suspension only

SOunds like they haven't actually done that much riding TBH, knee pads? WTF!

What is light for a retro MTB ??

My Torus in full "rigid race spec" for smooth, fast courses was around 19lbs, light (and skinny) tyres and wheels, double chainset, D-A cassette and (sometimes) rear mech as well, Pace RC130 bars, triple butted forks, nice light welded Ti stem and a USE post, Ti bottom bracket (in the square...

MTB club rule says hardtail or full suspension only

Like i said, it's not written like a rule. An advisory note maybe.

Neighbours child has forks on backwards - do I say something

FWIW, i've pointed this out in a big chain before, just before someone was going to take it for a test ride. "This bike has it's forks on back to front" "No it doesn't, they're meant to look like that" From the middle aged guy in the shop. Was a pair of Rockshox SIDs (in blue, so not really...

MTB club rule says hardtail or full suspension only

That's the most oddly worded "rule" i've ever seen. Sounds more like a guideline/warning "Rides are suitable for conventional & electric mountain bikes, hardtail or full suspension only" ....so if you turn up on something stupid you might break it, fall off or get left behind....... Unless you...

    clipless conundrum.

Yeah, i know, bittersweet really. Means the company will survive, also means quality will likely plummet....

    clipless conundrum.

I used onzas for a couple of seasons. Then a few years on Ritchey WCS (i found the onzas were pretty crap to be fair, too short and easy to roll over.). Then onto Time in about 97 or 98 (i'd already been using TBT pedals on road for 10 years by then.) Haven't used anything else since. ATAC off...

    Fettling a new (modern) bike?

Also, i go over every bike i buy, not to check bolt torques, just to check they've actually built it/PDIed it. Dunno why, but shops i've had work on bikes more recently have been far more miss than hit. I mean, indexing gears isn't difficult, apparently it is to some....

    Fettling a new (modern) bike?

Re: Re: STX hasn't existed since shortly after you bought your last bike..... SLX now ;) Only thing i upgrade is wheels, until you're spending north of something like £3k on an MTB, the wheels are usually OE spec versions of a known model. Had several over the years that once they fail (6...

    Front wheel bearings

Double saddle / double driveside chainring on Marketplace

:D Or maybe they only had two right hand pedals?

    How big is your workshop?

I have a hobby room as well....... electronics, RC cars, and soon a gaming PC will be completed.....

Double saddle / double driveside chainring on Marketplace

Only had a spare driveside crank, so put it on instead of a non-drive side crank. Saddle, yeah, it's amazing what marketing can achieve........

    I wouldn't buy a electric car from
