Oval vs round chain rings?

I'm stepping into unknown territory for me with a 1x11 build. Ive scored an xt 1x11 drive train, the cranks have an oval narrow wide ring. Not since the days of biopace and oval-tech have i used an oval ring. What are the benefits of this modern take on the retro standard?

Trying to decide whether to give it a go, or buy a round ring.

If it's already there, use it, Doesn't cost you anything to try does it......

I prefer them TBH. Especially on 1x drivelines where i occasionally have to grind it out.......

Re:

Yep, been running absolute black ovals for years on my mtbs, they work brilliantly, especially on climbs, they really smooth out the downward pedal/power stroke

Re:

I'll give oval a try, it is already on the cranks so as pointed out, costs nothing. It is a decent one with little use, bought the whole drive train which looks to have very low mileage so should play nicely.

Hate oval. Especially on low speed.
Which one, there's a massive variation in concepts (and execution).

The Osymetric ones made me feel seasick......

don't know which ovals I used. They were already fitted. Took them off after using. I'm surprised they haven't tried to sell us oval wheels. Round for movement is best.

Re:

Try it as it's already fitted, assuming its fitted the correct way around ;)
It's not Biopace, so dont assume it'll be the same, it's not.
It might feel "weird" for the first mile or so, but you'll soon adjust.
I use round and oval, honestly cant tell any difference in use tbh.
