    Doh-forgot to remove freewheel.

me to wife " have you seen a pair of bike rims I left outside the garage" wife " what those to hoop things" me "yeah" wife "I took them down the tip with the hedge trimmings" me "$%u?'ht^mns$" So I'm now looking at 18x2mm diameter pins equi-spaced on "x"-pcd on a flat piece of aluminium...

    Doh-forgot to remove freewheel.

thank you Citoyen. spokes still intact. Out of interest, you say a clamp is last resort. I was going to make a clamp that fitted around the small diameter where the oil (?) hole is. Is this stil a no no, are these hubs that fragile ?

    Doh-forgot to remove freewheel.

Just broke down a rear wheel without removing freewheel first. Now I have to make a nice clamp so as not to damage my Record hubs. Unless am I missing something.

    Raleigh Mustang

Excuse me if this is rubbish, just spotted it at my local tip (Basingstoke). Looked totally original red/black, 1" steerer, 15 spd. Guvnor said he wanted £6 for it but sure he'd take an offer.

wheel build - is this feasible

Need to get the hang of wheelbuilding so this will probably be my option. Just need to choose a set of rims. If I can be careful with the spokes and nipples would they be of use to any retrobikers ?

wheel build - is this feasible

I'm in no rush at the moment so I'll sit back and trawl. Need to finish my Raleigh off first and see if anything else comes along which might sway my decision one way or the other. Thanks for all the responses though, gained some useful information through them.

wheel build - is this feasible

one-eyed jim, that's the conclusion I seem to be coming to looking at the online spoke calculator like the one in triniriderz link. An erd of 615mm seems relatively large. Obviously going to have to investigate further. Or sell the nuovo hubs and look for a complete second hand set.

wheel build - is this feasible

that's what I was figuring. I picked the open sport a. because of value and b. it dosen't seem to have evolved (in shape). Internal diameter, good idea, see if I can find that out. Anybody got a tape measure handy.

wheel build - is this feasible

Have a pair of wheels, unhappy Mavic GP4 rims on Campagnolo Record nice big flanged hubs with stainless spokes. I've been looking for an oppurtunity to build a pair of wheels and am wondering if the Mavi Open Sport would be a direct swap. The Open Sport seeming to be a nice budget rim to get...

    1983 Basso

tatra Nice looking bike. Any chance of any more photo's, I've just picked up the remnants of a Basso from my local tip and I'm trying to get a better picture of what it might have looked like. This is new to me and I'm struggling why I have Campag cranks on a Shimano bottom bracket. I've a...

    New to Retro....which road bike?

well I'm new to this as well and my first retro is a Raleigh 501 RX100 which a bloke in work has great delight in telling me it's a piece of gas tubing s***. I like it and if I hadn't thrown the saddle out it would be 100 percent original, I think. The second one I have just picked up from the...

Hi every one , first post and looking for some info/help. Just come back from our local tip with this bike, well most of it, unusually cannot get any info back from google. The frame sticker suggests it is made from Columbus tubing and I can see Manganese on the sticker as well. "Basso" and...
