    Quick Friday night opinion poll

That's becoming increasingly likely!! She's demanded I fit her old huge sprung gel saddle  And I've just found a pair of old araya/Shimano 36spoke wheels in the garage which have a seized solid rear hub. Perfect for taking the nexus. Silver though. Think I'll go with it for now...

Re: That's what I'm thinking, or maybe a mix of all three? I can't decide if a red stem will look gash or not? Might have a play on photoshop.

    Quick Friday night opinion poll

New build for SWMBO. But she can't/won't make her mind up This is what I have so far. Wheels will have silver hubs as the rear is a nexus 8 speed, tyres are bontranger jones XR and a set of polished v brakes are lined up for it, but the rest, rims, stem, cranks etcetera are still to be...

I'm lucky enough to be a TIG welder amongst other things, so I always fuse the end of cables with a quick blast of the TIG arc.

**SOLD** Chromag Stylus frame and seat clamp PRICE DROP

Re: Chromag Stylus frame and seat clamp PRICE DROP Easy! Would be a shame to do so though IMO. Esp. with paint as good as that. Rim Brakes aren't great either are they  and I only need them as Mandy's new build is being based around a non disk nexus hub. GLWS! 8)

**SOLD** Chromag Stylus frame and seat clamp PRICE DROP

Re: Chromag Stylus frame and seat clamp PRICE DROP Would have this in a heartbeat for the missus if it had rim brake bosses type bump.

    Winter Commuting

I need to. Cultivating a food baby at the moment, about 4 months gone by the looks of it. Will probably have three bikes on rotation but the Dawes will only see dry use, it's too minty to get wet and salty.

Any Shimano Nexus experts on here?

There's a wealth of info on sheldon brown too. Some or none of it may be of help to you. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/nexus8/ I'm in a similar situation, but mine arrived as a hub only. Thankfully it seems to just need a service.

Found! Small frame suitable for SS

Need a small frame, open to any suggestions (it's for SWMBO and she doesn't really know what she wants!) the only necessities are brake bosses as the nexus hub going in it doesn't have a disc mount, it needs to be sub 16" in size and it can't be anything too exotic as she won't look after it...

    Nexus 8. Talk to me.

Thanks again, just had a play with it, all gears select fine, so after an oil change I'll build the wheel. Just need to find a tiny frame now. I've read ATF is a good cheaper alternative to shimanos overpriced rattlesnake oil? Would you concur? That shifter looks much more like it!! The grip...

    Nexus 8. Talk to me.

Thanks! I'll stick a frame on my stand and have a play tomorrow night then. I've had another look at the shifter, and while it's covered in scratches and cracks it seems to function OK. Personally I couldn't live with a grip shift type shifter but SWMBO says she can.

    Nexus 8. Talk to me.

Backstory: The Mrs has had it with conventional gears, through the course of two bikes I've tried her with thumbies, gripshi(f)ts, rapidfires the lot. In short she's a Luddite who is always in the wrong gear and wants to go SS but in a last ditch attempt I want her to try a geared hub as the...

Gary Fisher - please help with restoration.

It's an evolution BB by the way, not a normal threaded type. 88mm shell, pressed in bearings retained by circlips, you'll have to reuse the square taper axle. It's a great bit of kit.

Gary Fisher - please help with restoration.

Re; the BB you'll just need to buy a pair of cartridges and press the old ones out/new ones in. I think not cost me about £20 to make mine last another 20 years. Have a read of my thread here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=229046&p=1722097&hilit=Fisher+aquila#p1722097
