Hmmm that was my thoughts. Oh well, seems almost completely period correct apart from front forks and brake and I think I got it for a good price so hopefully it will fit the intended recipient and all will be well.

There was the company in PEnge (so not the midlands) called I think 'the fridge' that dealt in second hand and swapped kit and I remeber their ads in MBUK and saw them at Bike '96

Got my frame and forks back and they look like new, A little annoyed that sone pow over spray made it into the BB shell but that was dealt with easily enough as it wasn't a lot. Very pleased with the job for £30 frame and forks and I'll be sticking up build photos on here once I've got them...

I've had a search of the site and forums but can't find any thing about it. So my question to you all what makes 1997 retro?

Taking my Kona to a place on friday that was recommended on here for strip and frame and forks in seperate colours. £30 apparently and i'm told they do a good job and know what to mask and threads to protect etc. It is steel though so can take a bit more abuse in the strip than an alu frame...

I thought it looked like they were but don't have a vernier gauge to check. Just got to try and find one long enough for the front Mudguard mounting bolt!

Just out of interest.... Where did you get your frame bolts (bottle cage mounts, pannier mounts etc.) looking at swapping mine overwhen I get my frame PC's and am wondering if they are all the same m5 thread as the bottle mount?

Don't remember any of those colours in the range when I got mine. they were all fairly muted I think the fire mountain was burgundy and as you can see mine is the shocking metallic brown they called Volkswagen custom gold!
