Help with sizing a Kona Lava Dome

Collected it tonight and yes it is a 19" frame. Thinking that height wise it might just be Ok but cockpit length is gonna be a stretch. Are/ were short stems available with quills or was that an advent of ahead type forks? I'd like to keep the headset setup as it's fairly original down to...

Help with sizing a Kona Lava Dome

Hmmm that was my thoughts. Oh well, seems almost completely period correct apart from front forks and brake and I think I got it for a good price so hopefully it will fit the intended recipient and all will be well.

singlespeed conversion virgin, noob questions !

Do away with the tensioner!!! I haven't read the whole thread but it seems like your having troubles. After faffing with several different tensioners that all worked loose in one way or another (the only one that didn't was the Gusset one which was difficult to get the wheel out with!) I...

Help with sizing a Kona Lava Dome

I won an eBay auction for a 1992 Kona Lava Dome listed as 17" at the weekend, didn't think anything of it until I was looking to get an accurate date from the archive and saw that in 1992 no 17" frames are listed! the range goes 16,18,19,20,21. Any ideas why 17" was missed in the catalogue or...

Why did you buy THAT bike????

A big chunk of it has to be the fact we all lusted after these bikes back when we first started out and unless we had a dozen paper rounds, very nice parents or were selling our bodies we had no way of affording them. Jump forwards 15 years and we find ourselves for the most part with jobs...

1995 Kona Hahanna - (edit) got new paint!!!

Yes I went with white which is likely to get me flamed for creating another white Kona but hey what the heck I like it. After hunting down a set of Project 2's and getting some colour coordinated parts, new stickers from here and a machined head tube badge from Gil I have a new single speed...

    Kona's page

I've been through all 27 pages of this thread and I'm wondering why there is such a negative thing about "another white Kona". There seem to be loads more original or varied colour versions here than white and (even though I say so myself having just produced one) I think white just really...

    MTB swap shop

There was the company in PEnge (so not the midlands) called I think 'the fridge' that dealt in second hand and swapped kit and I remeber their ads in MBUK and saw them at Bike '96

    powdercoat prices please

Got my frame and forks back and they look like new, A little annoyed that sone pow over spray made it into the BB shell but that was dealt with easily enough as it wasn't a lot. Very pleased with the job for £30 frame and forks and I'll be sticking up build photos on here once I've got them...

    powdercoat prices please

Taking my Kona to a place on friday that was recommended on here for strip and frame and forks in seperate colours. £30 apparently and i'm told they do a good job and know what to mask and threads to protect etc. It is steel though so can take a bit more abuse in the strip than an alu frame...

    V-brake bolts swap

Just a quick question but does anyone know if I'm gonna kill myself by swapping my vbrake mounting bolts for Alloy ones (from pro bolt) as the bike is getting an overhaul and I'm thinking about swapping all the bolts for red. The bike will only be used for the mile or so commute to and from...

I thought it looked like they were but don't have a vernier gauge to check. Just got to try and find one long enough for the front Mudguard mounting bolt!

Project 2 axle to crown lengths???

Hi So I'm trying to lay my hands on some project 2's to go on the front of my Kona Hahanna (95) and am currently bidding on some on ebay. Thing is an answer to an axle to crown query has popped up saying they are 370mm long? This seems really short and as they have disc brake tabs are...
