1994 Kona Cindercone - Modern/Retro project

Get it dirty the once and you'll be fine. I lost the coating on one of my stickers after my first ride on my reconditioned Kona, it helped me be a little less precious. I did however keep the crank and brakes polished! ;)

Nick, thank for the comments!

Just looked at your Lava Dome link, that was the insperation for the white colour on my build. Stunning bike, lovely job!

beautiful mate, i love the old frames brought up to date, i am lucky in the fact that my knowledge of mtb (or lack thereof) means i just go by the way things look, dont know enough to be a purist, but i know i like the look of this bike a lot! well done a brilliant build imo :D

Just out of interest....

Where did you get your frame bolts (bottle cage mounts, pannier mounts etc.) looking at swapping mine overwhen I get my frame PC's and am wondering if they are all the same m5 thread as the bottle mount?

Hi Terry

Yeah they are all 5mm same as the bottle cage.

I got the blue anno from Chain Reaction Cycles if I recall.

Cheers

Dave

I thought it looked like they were but don't have a vernier gauge to check.

Just got to try and find one long enough for the front Mudguard mounting bolt!

nice job! i also have a '94 Cindercone(mine from new) but have kept it very much period correct.
i like your old/new one though.
giving me ideas for a future project maybe.

free bump with a little mavic question thrown in...

Are crossland disc wheels heavier/lighter the crossride disc in the range?

cheers

I do like white konas ;)
