Did you ever resolve the headset issue ? I have the same problem on my T26, which has a cracked bearing race ring, so would like o replac it. I havent investigated thoroughly but may be cane creek headsets would work?...

Here is a pick of my TLC to this A* Almega DX 92. New seat, post 2 front chainrings, XT front mech from ebay and 3 hours of a saturday fixing the front STI shifter which was out of action. Front mech now does not slip!

Thanks for the tip Feetabix :D , I thought that could be the case, but never wanted to risk a purchase only to see it doesnt fit :? .... but one thing is the bolt not too short ? a conventional long thread hex bolt would be required, no ?
Did you replace the headsets on these bikes.... I have one but the H/S is shot, need to replace the zero stack with something, but not sure what to get.

Nice.... where did you source the front derailleur... I am struggling to find these kind, or can I get one with a band and change the bolt ?
