What a thoroughly decent chap. Swapped my surplus Whyte PRST-4 frame set (well, three of them is definitely one to many) for his USE SUB fork and wheels that I have no idea what to do with. It looks bloody marvellous though...

The looks are somewhat challenging, but the ride is little short of amazing. It's not perfect, and does require a different riding style to riding with telescopic forks, but it's very rewarding. Modern shocks transform it though, and go a long way to dialling out the complaints people had about...

Looking good Mike, The list of people who run 24" wheels at the front include Adrian Ward, who designed it with Jon Whyte, so there must be something in it. But I'm quite happy with the way that a more modern platform damped shocks give a little more control over the front end without it...

Re: Only the iron block 2.0 in the 9-5 was a Saab engine, and that was derived from the canted four originally found under the bonnet of the Triumph dolomite. The 9-3 got the GM power plant. That said, they're very good cars, and since they went bust, very cheap cars.

MPS is exciting AND reliable, but it's saloon only. You can't even drop the rear seats because of the chassis braces, and the boot floor is higher than normal saloons because it's got the differential from an RX8 under it. I'd look at Vauxhall Insignias. I hate vauxhalls, but I am forced to...

Had one, Hated it. The most boring car I've ever had. Boring to look at, be in, drive.. A true "white goods" vehicle. Just an utterly tedious four wheeled box with all the charisma and desireability of a fridge. That said, it didn't go wrong.

Hi Cor, First of all, what size do you want? Secondly, do you specifically want a PRST-1, or would you also consider the JW-2, or the later PRST-4 & JW-4 frames?

I like the old grey too, but since my plan is to keep one frame in original colours, I wanted to do something a bit different with the other one. I was after some ideas and feedback since every re sprayed PRST I've seen has been utterly gopping. It seems that this is a very hard frame to make...

Re: Re: Damn, it does a bit... Hopefully in the correct shades though, it wouldn't be quite such a stark similarity. Yeti used a particularly vibrant yellow, where gulf used a tangerine orange with the pale blue.

If you search for it, you'll find a drawing for the Whyte PRST-1 brake adapter on-line. The real parts are rarer than rocking horse dung, but they're easy to replicate, and also fit marins from the same era.
