Thanks. I have tried to check for further signs of damage and found some lumping of the downtube where it meets the head with some paint chipping. Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll pull the parts off the bike and sell them to recoup my losses... and chalk it up to inexperience!

Hi all, I've been lucky enough to pick up a lovely Marin Nail Trail with all original STX parts, original seat, tyres, Marin Lite brakes... even the tyres are the original Marin Quake tyres! Just that seat tube clip that looks third party! It's a bit dirty and unloved now but when I'm finished...

I actually purchased it on eBay last night but after doing some more research I cancelled the sale! Turns out the chain wheels can't easily be replaced. The outer and inner aren't too hard to replace but the middle serves as the bracket for the smallest one so can't be swapped for a new one...
