Yeah laser. Considered tagging it on to the next load of photo etched metal we were getting at work. We get our smallest scale balcony railings done this way, but the next job lined up was going to a bit thin.

Anyway, got a little sidetracked.... Back to the making stuff. All of the little odds and bobs to mop up now... Tubeless valves. Brass with an aluminium core.

They say a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Well I know nothing, so I must be really safe.

Exactly this. As soon as you put a deadline on a job, I'll take all the assistance you can throw at it. My shower curtain is hanging from a 3D printed bracket because of the sloping ceiling.

You've hit the nail squarely on the head there, I like that analogy.🔨 When it comes to making stuff for my job, I'll take all the apprentices you can give me. If I'm making stuff for fun then maybe the apprentice takes away some of the sense of ownership. Perhaps "cheating" was too strong a...

I have noticed that in the past. That's possibly another reason why it's the only social media I engage with. It's nice here.

I think "dumb-arse" and "keyboard warrior" might be a little strong. Uneducated, yes, but hopefully now educated. 🎓 I hope my previous post doesn't come across as taking the hump, it was not intended as such. To be honest, without a laser cutter I doubt it would have even occured me to make this.

I see someone on Singletrack has questioned the "cheatingness" of laser cutting vs. 3D printing. The way I look at it is this; A laser cutter cuts shapes out of a flat sheet of material. Once these pieces are cut, there is still assembly and filler/fettling to be done. Essentially all the...

Final dry assembly before getting the glue out. I need to sort out a box for it before sticking it together. Once the stem is glued in place it wont fit in the toolbox that I've been using up until now.

This is the smallest jig on the build. It's for building the sprung jaws on the pedals. More springs. These were a bit fiddly to assemble.

Spring has sprung. Brass wire wound into a spring... Limit screws, bolts and the like will be added later. A sense of scale.

Thanks Stevet1, does this mean I've "gone viral", as the youth say? I haven't been viral since Covid-19.

While we're dealing with seating, this is the cable cover for the external dropper. The black area is engraved out of white acrylic, the whole thing sprayed black then rubbed on a 320 grit sanding block to make the white bit white again.
