    Can you put spd pedals on vintage bike?

    Re: Actually, you may have problems threading a shimano's SPD or other Japanese pedals into vintage Campy cranks and maybe other Italian cranks as the threads are slightly different. The will go in but may take more force than you may be comfortable with.

    Re: Could be worn off the side but should be embossed on the bottom of the plastic shell and they usually have a concor nameplate on the back end. Might be a cheap knockoff.

    Why did bar ends disappear?

    Downtube shifters are lighter and provide a quicker crisper shift due to the shorter cable length but obviously that could be debated.

    Pedal threads

    There is a slight difference between Italian 9/16 x 20 and Japanese 9/16 x 20. I think it is the angles on the points of the threads which will cause a Japanese pedal to thread tight into an Italian crank. Anyone else tried to thread a Shimano SPD pedal into a Campy crank? They work but they're...

    I used to own a set of those rims back in 1984. The rim in the pictured used to have a green and yellow fragile waterside decal over the rims joint seam.
