Marin Titanium Frame (1995?) For Sale, now £250

Re: Re: I had a look at the '96 catalog and it doesn't seem to have disk mounts either Maybe someone has added them afterwards? Yep, this was my plan for it!

Marin Titanium Frame (1995?) For Sale, now £250

Re: Re: The frame number certainly seems to indicate a 95 frame, the disk mount did puzzle me too but I was kind of out of the game by then so I thought Marin may just have been early adopters. If someone has bodged it on afterwards they have done a damn good job of it! I did take a look at...

Marin Titanium Frame (1995?) For Sale, now £250

Re: Marin Titanium Frame (1995?) For Sale Good point, I've edited the post, frame number says 17" but feels closer to a 18.5/19".

Marin Titanium Frame (1995?) For Sale, now £250

I bought this a couple of years ago and was planning to build it up but it's sat in the loft pretty much ever since and it's not going to get done so it's time to move it on to someone who will use it. I think it's a 1995 judging from the frame number (see pics below), the frame is in really...

Single speeds, what is it about them ?

The term 'fixie' does conjure up a certain image in a lot of peoples minds and its not really that positive :D However like any stereo type it probably only applies to a small minority (if any). The simplicity does appeal but the knees say No.

    Thumbies... Simple like paul?

Tokyo Fixed sell the road version Paul Thumbie for 26mm bars for £27. I might get one and run it with a 22.2mm-25.4mm spacer for my 1x10 Specialized Enduro, I think the 0.6mm difference should be ok...

    Aluminium bolts in fork crown/brace/clamps

I didn't know this, I had assumed Ti wouldn't react with metals around it. I found this on Stainless Steel World: I'd better go and get the copper slip! Going back to the original question, to be on the safe side the old aerospace adage 'Steel is real' applies.

    Aluminium bolts in fork crown/brace/clamps

I wouldn't recommend aluminium for something like that either, what about titanium? Should be more than strong enough and won't corrode to the aluminium like plain steel can.

    1992 Dyna Tech Diablo DX

That looks smashing, love the paint too. I've always had a soft spot for Dyna Techs, there was a purple Ti one on eBay recently but it was local pick up only and in Scotland :(

    Is there anything more satisfying......

Damn right. Finally got a seized M5 socket head cap screw out of my RC36's the other night, the steel head had bonded to the aluminium of the crown. After initially rounding it out with an allen key I hammered a torx bit in with a brass drift (a bit of a shock always helps free stuff up) then...

So is this a waste of money.......

There was a guy on the radio the other day whose business it is to supply plants and trees and so on and he said the cost of this was well OTT. He also mentioned he had bid for this contract but didn't get it, all very fishy if what he says is true.

    No love for Marin?

This is my newly acquired 1995 Team Titanium, mainly purchased as I always wanted a Ti bike BITD. I never owned a Marin before but always liked the Zolatone bikes. It's had a disk brake mount welded on the back at some point so with that in mind the plan is to build it up as a...
