    Stronglight 99 question

I have a stronglight 99 crankset set up as a double ring but I believe its supposed to be easy to run it as a triple. Anyone know how this is done? Is it just done ussing long bolts and shims/spacers between the middle and inner ring? Thanks.

    531c seatpin size

I have an '84 531c Road Ace, and an '84 531c Record Ace and a 531ST Classic 15. All take 27.2mm seat posts. Any chance your seat tube has been clamped up too tight at some point and needs easing open again?

Caliper brake upgrade, 84 Raleigh Record Ace

Thanks, I would like to try better blocks first. What do you recommend for aluminium alloy rims?

Caliper brake upgrade, 84 Raleigh Record Ace

I'm considering upgrading my Weimanns so I can stop the bike in the wet and wanted to hear peoples suggestions. I'm hoping to go to 700c wheels and although the drop on the front fork is normal, the drop from the rear brake bridge is huge. Can't understand why it was built this way. Any ideas?

    Raleigh Randonneur 531

The Randonneur doesn't appear in the 84 Raleigh catalogue. Their top of the range tourer in 84 was the Classic 15 in 531ST which has caliper brakes. I believe the Randonneur evolved from this a little later. I guess if yours was built in 84 it could have been for the 85 lineup.

    My '84 Road Ace

Built this one about 6 months ago with a frame off the bay and lots of scavenged parts from the shed etc. I've gone through a few frames over the last couple of years, all of which were nearly but not quite right for me. This one, for what ever reason, is absolutely on the button. Its very...

    '97 Kona Cable Routing

Also taken a look at my pal's Cinder Cone which is the same year (definitely '97 bikes as I've checked the Kona catalogue). Same routing and in his case the cable has actually chafed through the paintwork halfway down the down tube. Looking carefully at the Cinder Cone, the down tube is welded...

    '97 Kona Cable Routing

Just acquired a '97 Lava Dome frame to build up and I'm really puzzled by the rear deraileur cable routing. it seems to cross over the down tube on its way down, from a hanger on the left at the top to the right side of the cable guide under the BB. As it goes its rubbing on the underside of...

What length forks for a '98 Orange Clockwork

The Clockwork seems to have similar head and seat angles, the Explosif has a steeper head angle but similar seat angle to the Clockwork. I wonder what length fork it was supplied with. Anyone prepared to whip out their tape measure? Thanks again.

What length forks for a '98 Orange Clockwork

Thats good advice, the constant angle from crown to axle does add to the laid back appearance but comparing the actual head angle to my old Explosif and my sister's Stumpjumper from the same era the clockwork is somewhat more relaxed. Are clockworks known for this? Is it something like 70...

What length forks for a '98 Orange Clockwork

Hi, I'm mid build and fitted some Kona project 2s (420 mm from crown to axle) but the old Clockwork looks a bit jacked up and very laid back) Are these forks too long or am I just not used to the relaxed head angle on the old Clockwork? (I'm traditionally a Kona man). Any advice greatly...
