Thanks for the tips...........I had a good look at the shifter. One paw was stuck in the open position due to dry grease, and another had a small rock wedged in there. Some brake cleaner, manual operation back and forth, and some new lube fixed the problem. It works like new. Just a few...

Re: This is not intended to be concours......total cost so far under $200. I will need to source some new cables, a front brake cable bracket, grips, some fresh tyres, stickers, a wheel truing and some minor works. It will be ridden and there will be trials action, as best as a middle...

Re: I like it! I had a strata shock on my DBR V-Link back in the day. It was really good! Only problem was, after some time, it developed some slack. I sold it like that, I do not know the exact cause, but this was in the days when a shock pump was $350 so servicing was done on a needs...

Accidental purchase hunting for a parts bike, however it might be too good to bartardise. I had a 1993 Avanti Montari, which was Avanti's base model with Alivio, and also my first mountain bike. I had the Avanti catalogue and spent many hours drooling over the higher spec models...

I was thinking of fitting some along the top tube. That way if you over jump and case a landing, you have something to smack you in the balls after poking your eyes out on the handlebar mounted units! Jeffro

I managed to spend a couple of hours on this over the weekend. The forks required some spacers to account for the new slightly longer stanchions, so I got some 25mm delrin and shaped with a bushmechanics CNC; A lathe would be nice but this technique got me within a mm or so. Bike now...

Brake parts turned up; Evo mounts and old school boosters. Jeffro

Got a hold of some 6061 75x75x6mm angle for the swingarm. Still a lot of shaping to go but you get the idea.......... Jeffro
