    unable to spread rear stays..why/how.?

The 2x4 method totally works. Go little by little, but you'll get there. I've done it a few times before I bought a frame spreader.

WTB: Chesini Pantographed Campagnolo Downtube Shifters +

I'm after a set of Nuovo Record shifters with chesini panto (techincally I guess it would be milling since it goes all the way through). If you have a set, please let me know. I only really need the shifters, I have hardware. I would also be interested in early to mid 80's chesini bits, water...

WTD: Campag Chorus 26.8 Aero Seatpost

Hello all. I'm after a campy 26.8 chorus aero seatpost. I would consider a record, but I would REALLY prefer a chorus. The early one that does not say chorus, but has the shield logo. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm in the US. I have a 27.2 90's record non fluted alloy post in...

Hello all. I've been after a Zeus crank wrench for some time and realized I've never tried here. If you happen to have one, please let me know and we can be friends forever or I could just give you some money and we could never speak again. I'll leave that up to you. :D

Thanks! And yes, you do. Second Generation Phil Wood circa 1973 with alloy retainer rings. Similar to this one, but slightly earlier:

Colnago – because they are worth it?

I had an early 80's super and the geometry was amazing, felt really good to ride. While I do like Colnago's, the buzz about them and prices as of late are a bit much. What's more is that they fell victim to the bike boom and some of the 80's models, even the nicer ones, were poorly...

    Handlebar Identification and WOW!! Paintwork

You might be able to find some 3T moscow for a bit less. They are nice as well.

    1974 Jack Taylor Time Trial

Just finished this up, thought I would share: It's a 74 JT curved tube setup for TT. Originally belonged to an Ex Masi USA employee, but I had a frame he wanted a bit more! Made a couple of changes since the pic. New saddle, Chisel Pro with no cover, came in at about 180g, not bad for...

    Stubburn tyre fitting tips.

The Var jack is nice, but the Kool Stop one gives you a hell of a lot more leverage.

    FS: Hi-E HiLo hubset

I have an odd little hubset made in the 70's by Hi-E. Not very common here in the US, so I imagine, not common at all in the UK. Hi-E mostly made hubs and a few other bits, cages, rims, etc. The hubs were crazy light for their time, I think the front is under 5oz. They also made...

Sachs New Succes and Fir Aliseo for cyclocross?

I think now you are getting into a question of your weight. Definitely not the setup for someone on the heavier end. I can't seem to find any info on the Fir rims you mentioned, what profile are they. A good combination with a low spoke count is a deep profile rim with double or triple butted...

Sachs New Succes and Fir Aliseo for cyclocross?

Perfect. Than I say you are good to go. They are really nice hubs. Those and the Mavic 500 series are my favorite. In fact, I remember reading a blog article about last year's Roubaix. One of the support vehicles had a set of wheels with 500 series hubs on them.

    Problem with bar end shifters

You should also check how tightly the screws that hold the levers in place are. Just like downtube shifters, how smooth they shift depends on how tight the screw is.

Sachs New Succes and Fir Aliseo for cyclocross?

I would say the only watchout is if they are 8sp New Success threaded hubs. The way these were spaced and the location of the bearings caused some of these axles to break under pressure. This is symptomatic of a lot of early 130mm spaced Freewheel hubs. I think Mavic was one of the only...

H.R. Bates circa 1952 bottom bracket size

I don't think Bates took anything specific, so a standard BSC cupset will work. As for the spindle length, it all depends on your chainset of choice.
