Help ID builder of this mystery Nervex Pro frameset

Re: Thanks for this -- yours looks a fair bit older than mine, but mine is probably similar in age to the one owned by Dave Fossard. Yes, the ends are Agrati.

Help ID builder of this mystery Nervex Pro frameset

Outstanding spot, predki! The remnants of the markings on the BB on my frame look very much like the W there. I don't suppose you know what the number next to the W is? It's too bleached out for me to see... And any idea of the name of the marque enthusiast? Many thanks for this great lead!

Help ID builder of this mystery Nervex Pro frameset

Re: That's certainly a possibility, though I think the wrapovers, which are time-consuming to do, are evidence against. Also, Classic Lightweights has lots of photos of some very fine frames with the strengthening ribs on the Nervex Pro head lugs intact, so I don't think this tells us much in...

Help ID builder of this mystery Nervex Pro frameset

Re: Yes, late fifties early sixties was my supposition, too, Ned -- let me know if your brain locates that missing link! I'm sure the frame numbers do mean something... The question is, what? I'm hoping someone may recognise a pattern in there. I did wonder if the V was an initial, but the...

Help ID builder of this mystery Nervex Pro frameset

This one isn't going to be easy because Nervex Pro lugs aren't exactly uncommon. However, thoughts/ideas/theories welcome! https://picasaweb.google.com/1058065037 ... directlink Frame number on the fork steerer is 625101. There is another number on the steerer and the BB shell: VV 168 I'm not...

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

Re: Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/6 Thanks, it's a lovely looking frame but probably a cm or two short and I did want an SL or SLX...

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

Re: Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/6 Well, it was perfect but I missed it... Guy with first dibs did not flinch! Thanks for the alert, anyway!

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

Re: Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/6 Nice one, thanks! Only second dibs for me, though -- I do sometimes look at the LFGSS threads, but there's always so much for sale and so many eager buyers...

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

Re: Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/6 Thanks, David, but this isn't quite what I am looking for and is probably anyway a bit on the small side for me...

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

Re: Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/6 Rolling Thunder, it's a tad small but I might be tempted! JWestland, that is very kind of you -- thanks! I don't at all mind the effort of dealing with an Italian seller. I've had appalling problems sending bits and pieces to Italy...

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

Re: Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/6 Thanks... I might go Dutch, but already have a fair collection of big English bikes! I have seen one or two big Italian frames in the past (after all, they are plenty of tall Italian cyclists) and regularly curse myself for not buying...

    Harden Bacon Slicer front hub

To match a rear I've been hoarding and finally ready to build up. 32 hole, any condition so long as it's not actually damaged.

Top quality Italian frameset, Columbus SL or SLX, 25in/64cm

I've always wanted to try out a top Italian (or perhaps Italian style -- something like a Merckx would be interesting) racer, so this is my next project. I am 6' 6" so I need at least a 25 inch/64 cm frame. 70s frameset preferred. Any condition so long as the steel is straight, sound and undamaged.

    DT Aero Speed spokes (black)

I guess these spokes won't pass through a normal round spoke hole, right? You need a hub with slotted holes?

Powder Coating - Reynolds tubing / frames

I've had several steel frames poweder-coated by Armourtex and they do a very good job. They get a lot of steel frames and if there were issues with their processes, I think they would have come to light by now. Enamelling gives a deeper, more velvety finish, but it is a lot more expensive...

    Shimano 600 8-speed STI lever, left hand/front

I am looking for a Shimano 600 8-speed STI lever, left hand/front, for a double crankset. It doesn't have to be in perfect condition, so long as it works well. Thanks.

    Bayliss Wiley BB playing up

Thanks for the input! I took everything out, cleaned off all the grease and inspected the cups with a strong light and a magnifying glass... Turns out the adjustable cup had a small amount of tracking in a short arc covering about twenty per cent of the race. Must have missed it first time --...

    Bayliss Wiley BB playing up

Well, there wouldn't be room for another one in there, but there seems to be plenty of space for everything to move around in. You think I should try whipping one out?

    Bayliss Wiley BB playing up

Hi there, I am fitting a set of Bayliss Wiley bb cups and axle. Brand new 1/4 inch bearings and all the races are pretty good, but... Once assembled, the axle keeps "catching" - turns smoothly for a few revolutions, then there's resistance and you have to turn a little harder to get over the...
