    hand made decals?

Re: decals If you make them on waterslide paper they have to be laquered over once they have been printed. It kind of makes a sandwich between the coating on the paper and the laquer with the image inbetween. Soak it in water and ithe whole lot slides off. I was laquering my guitar anyway so...

    hand made decals?

Get some Waterslide Transfer paper and print your own with your inkjet. You can get the paper off ebay. I made some guitar transfers about 4 years ago and they worked really well. However I did have access to a full colour digital printer as I work in the print industry. I have had success with...

    Raleigh Wisp Mixte (updated)

LOL, did you actually read my post? If you re-read my post you will see what's wrong with 27 x 1-1/4. (For me anyway). I'm very reluctant to go the 700c route as my wheels are only 27 years old and have years left in them yet!

    Raleigh Wisp Mixte (updated)

I would guess that the tyres are probably 27 x 1 1/8 and if so the conti's are about all that is available. I really wish that Michelin would do a batch of world tours in that size as the Conti's really don't look right on 80's bikes. I'm having the same problem with my Raleigh Royal. My 27 x 1...

    Saddle colours

Brooks saddles aren't expensive in the long run as they last so long. I paid £17 for my B17 about 24 years ago but I expect to get at least another 24 years out of it :D . Ian.

    Raleigh Richmond

If it's of any interest this is how I mount my rear lights to my Raleigh Royal. It's just a piece of old shower curtain cable tied onto the rear rack. The lights are a pair of Poundland specials but they're more than adequate for the job. Cheers, Ian.

80's style foam grips at Poundland.

If you're out shopping today have a look at these. Perfect for a restoration of an 80's Dawes Galaxy, Raleigh Royal, Claud Butler Majestic etc. And for a quid they are a steal. Ian.

    1957 New Hudson

Very nice indeed. Did you have the handlebars rechromed or had they been painted? My Dad rode one of these to work when I was a young lad. It was a British Racing Green one. (there seems to be a trace of BRG on your chainguard in the before pic). He put a tiny saddle on the crossbar and a...

    Tour of Britain

Us people of Lancaster and Morecambe would love to bury Noel Edmonds. He will never be forgiven for the huge amount of money he fleeced us for. If you don't know what I am talking about google "Blobbygate". Ian.

    Viking Ian Steel.

Ooops. I hadn't noticed the chain tension. I'll look into that. I took it for a ride after I got it and the gearchange was smooth as anything so I'm a bit puzzled at the moment. Ian.

    Viking Ian Steel.

Thanks Mark. I have the Carradice saddlebag that was on it in the garage. I've had that for years and had forgotten it came off this bike. I also have the original aluminium pump which I also forgot to put on for the photo's. It's a lovely bike to ride even though it is only plain tubing not...

    Viking Ian Steel.

Hello all, Thought I'd post some pictures of a Viking Ian Steel Model which I recently liberated from my Father in Law's garage. I think it's a 1954 model but have yet to confirm that. My Father in Law had it since the late 1950's and it was second (or third) hand to him. To my own great...

80's style foam grips at Poundland.

Hello all, I was in poundland this morning (14th September) and was amazed to see these 80's style foam grips. I bought some similar ones from Halfords recently for £4.99 but these £1.00 ones seem very similar in quality. Come with bar ends too. Hope that helps somebody. Ian.[/img]
