    1988 Scott "Sawtooth"------Done !!!

    Did my first real "mountainbike" ride on a Scott Sawtooth. It was a purple/pink colour though, had rapidfire shifters, felt very liable to break...which they did. A hire bike in Austria. 1987 I think???

    RC36 EVO ? I recall that the steerer tube was seperate in the box when I got mine...held into crown by a couple of allen bolts. Made cutting it to length much easier :D

    Atherton`s started on Muddytenses, then moved to Giant and are now Commencal. The UFO dates back to just before Animal-Orange team days I think..... UFO came before Mr O and Patriot.

    Identifying Marzocchi forks?

    The casting year of the leg is usually on the "inside" of the lower. The model year will either be THAT year or the following one. If you go to the Marzocchi website they do have a "history section" so using the date on the leg, look through the relevant year(s)

    who insired you back in the day?

    My brother, he had an M800. Talked about riding some stuff local to us which I knew of from riding three speed as a younger lad. I was allowed to take the M800 out unaccompanied and ragged it where he had admitted to having problems. I bought a Hardrock a month later and discovered how much more...

    Yesterday`s Rothbury conditions: Anywhere that has pedestrian traffic is now packed ice, great long expanses of the stuff. There are little or no big melt patches, climbs are still snow/ice. Its bloody awful :(

    SC chameleon + which fork???

    The Chameleon was meant as a jumpy playbike so surely a rigid fork isnt an option if you want to get the most from it. A 5" singlecrown fork would be suitable I`d have thought. What age Santa Cruz anyway?
