    No need- I'm giving it back to him wouldn't even attempt that removal....& the rest of the bike was in a bit of a state as well ( rusty cables/misaligned brake blocks/very dirty rear cassette...)

    I agree- he apparently stuck the large screwdriver between the seatpost binder part of the lug, got frustrated, & then prised them open with the aid of a hammer & kept going until he burst open the entire lug!!!! Nutter!. .I think it's a goner...

    So, mate phones me yesterday: 1." Stuck seatpost in my Fondriest frame, I've had a go myself with a screwdriver but can't do it....." 2.I go over to see it...... & I'll let the photos do the talking.... 3. I assume this is now beyond economic repair as the frames only worth about £40 being low...

    I recall reading that Hilary Stone was in the frame workshop back in the day & witnessed the skill that Geo Longstaff demonstrated whilst swaging a bottom bracket into a frame....He said that Longstaff was in the top 3 English frame builders operating at that time....sadly taken too soon...think...

    Bargain; wish I was in Gloucestershire just for this... need a Tardis....rather than the exposed windswept, Atlantic coast that we call God's country in west Scotland....
