    Graham Weigh 531 frame (55cm)

Graham Weigh 531 frame in Lemond colours - well similar anyway! Purchased new in about 1992. Pictures here - https://goo.gl/photos/m1uL57vNeYR6pMgZ6 Measures 55cm from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube. Includes seat bolt, bottle bolts and Shimano 600 headset. I...

IF I wanted a modern bike....

Re: £520 will get a new Boardman http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/m ... -27-5-2016 (16" or 18" frame) which seems a good deal. That said, I bought a 2012 Orange G2 for £300 last year and it didn't have a mark on it - probably only done a few miles!

Disc Brake adapters - any experience?

Have you considered just adding the disc at the front? Most of the braking effort takes place at the front anyway. I know it's not the answer you're looking for ... just a thought.

Trying to get my new bike set-up. Advice please :-)

Things have changed ... but there is nothing wrong with making some small adjustments to your riding position. Last year I bought a 2012 Orange G2 to bring my self up to date from a 1996 C16R. Like yourself I preferred the more retro lower/forward position. I found the new bike was very light...

    Orange o2 1998 forks

I used to run a XC28 and it was fine - though me being about 68kg the standard spring it wasn't that effective for me. Chain Reaction have the XC28 with V brake mounts for £75. I would expect it would lift the front end ... but you've got a stack of spacers on there you could loose! If you are...

    9 speed / 10 speed compatabillity question

The cable pull did change in 10 speed - which is why you can't buy a 10 speed clutch mech and use it with 9 speed shifters. Which is annoying!

You need to contact Gil on this forum. You don't need a Marin expert ... you need a decal expert!

shimano disc brakes - what's the difference?

My 'new to me' bike has the same M445 brakes. I'm really impressed with the power and control you get from them. Not sure what improvement you would see moving up just one level - on other forums the standard answer to what brakes is SLX - which seem to have the right balance of value / features...

    Pedal/shoe clip or not questionarama

The Shimano M520's are great (and cheap) - I'd recommend them.

wheelbase... or do i mean Freewheel

I'm pretty sure it was Freewheel. I too remember drooling over all the Shimano groupsets!

    Front mech for Orange C16-R

Excellent - thanks for that, gives me a bit of flexibility in getting a replacement.

    Front mech for Orange C16-R

Re: It's a 42T - not the original. So you'd expect it to fit above the bottle mount? I see what you mean about mounting a bottle cage, it would need to be spaced out a bit

    Front mech for Orange C16-R

My front mech snapped while out on a ride at the weekend. Wondering if anyone knows if I _need_ a 'top swing' replacement ... as looking at it I'm wondering if a conventional one will foul on the bottle cage mount? Any advice appreciated.

    Cycle roof rack

Try the CRUZ Bici-rack - cheap anyway. I've got 2 and they seem pretty sturdy. http://www.roofbox.co.uk/bike-carriers/ ... -range.php

    My 1996 Orange C16-R

I've been lurking here for a while and thought I'd say hello. I've had this bike from new and still enjoy riding it. Over the last couple of weeks its had a spring clean. Also new chain, cassette, brakes, STI and cables. Bit unsure about the v-brake cabling but it seems to look ok. I guess I...
