Do you notice extreme negative views of none retrobikers when you say you are trying to work with an older bike?

Horses for courses. There are divisions in every "scene". Take cars for example. Classic, mid-school, old-timer, wagon lovers, shedders, drifters, stance, modders and tribal manufacturer fanboys. All united by a love of cars, but very very different in their own right. Try going onto a...

For Sale Saracen Eiger - small/Med - Barn Find!

It's a good, honest bike - but I think in the current market £100 is probably asking a bit much (which is a shame as they are good little bikes). I'd clean it up, polish the life out of it and show it some lube and even then £75 would be toppy. On the plus side, it's a lovely colour and ripe...

Xlite bolts are the v brake type as the removable washer clears the pivot. Quite rare. Wish they were red!

    Pace Rc100

Very nice indeed - I love the one piece stem/steerers from these. It really does have all the seatpost though, my back is hurting just looking at it!

    Help me identify this orange…..

There was a Mr O but that looked quite different. Likely resprayed as these took a beating Orange themselves are quite helpful, they might be able to identify from pics.

    Help me identify this orange…..

Does it have a frame number? Lots of similarities with a 224 but lots of differences, and the swingarm looks more like it is off a 5 (hole by the axle rather than the three strakes of the 224). Maybe a factory bike or a Strange proto?

Why are thumb shifters so prized in the retrobike community?

If you don't want them indexed then it's a piece of cake. If you want the clicks to line up with your rear shifts then it will range from reasonably simple to "why the hell doesn't this work". But isn't that the joy of it?

    1992 Merlin Titanium

Lovely place to start a build from. Looks like it's had a pretty hard whack on those forks to cause that damage. What a curious mix of parts. I bet it has an interesting story to tell.

Can anyone tell me anything about this frame?

Dave Yates made some that shape too (which might explain the British connection with the Pace forks) but again the cable stop and routing is wrong for the one i was thinking of (link below) - though goodness knows you could have had whatever your wallet would have stretched to when speccing one...

Can anyone tell me anything about this frame?

Looks like it could be a Rocky Mountain, but the rear brake cable stop doesn't look right for the one I'm thinking of.
