    Sup’s GT Avalanche 12.5” Build

From what I’ve learned here, GT did make a 12.5 Zaskar. They are few and far between. I assume the the general telltale indicators are true of the 12.5’s; serial number is on the rear dropout, no letters in the serial number, flat cap on the rear of the top tube. That’s a fantastic score if...

    Incompetent people!

23 epiphany moments missed to find an appropriate solution….takes Einstein’s statement to an epic new pinnacle. Do you suppose the owner did each repair incidentally, or patched all of them following the first puncture? If the former, did the owner walk the bike home 24 times and visit the...

    Show us your marins!

It’s a Granite strap mount thingy to carry a toolbag or spare tube. I had some spare stainless button heads to affix to the bottle cage mounts. It hasn’t been used yet…probably should remove it. https://granite-design.com/products/portaledge

    1991 Bradbury Manitou FS

Jeez dude, that's a significant piece of MTB history. Definitely worthy of center stage at the Marin MTB museum.

    Show us your marins!

Exceptional - the steel frame is compliant and comfortable though a little short from seat to bars. The 1x drivetrain shifts fast and seamlessly. My favorite bike by a long shot.

Withdrawn Marin Muriwoods 94 frame....last days before it become a windchime!

That's a fantastic frame. I'm shocked no one picked it up yet. It hurts my heart that it may become anything less than a bicycle again. Someone wise up and collect it!

    Sup’s Marin Hawk Hill Project

Still tinkering, but I feel satiated that it’s “done”. Found a crusty Syncros seatpost and KCNC skewers.

    Beatings. They need more beatings.

    GT Zaskar 1997 - Now a build thread 👀

I’m inclined to say that your frame is an earlier model due the rear brake cable stay on the seat tube. That is for cantilevers, implying that the frame is mid 90’s. What the serial number on the dropout?

    Sup’s Pile of Bike Projects

I suppose shipping would be outrageously expensive. Regarding repairs to the ‘95, I‘ll start looking for a specialty welder when i get the pile down to a manageable size.

    Sup’s Pile of Bike Projects

Sadly, the ‘95 frame has a crack in the headtube. The other two FS’s havent been inspected yet, but I have no problem parting with them. Where are you located? I’m in SoCal.

    Sup’s Pile of Bike Projects

An ebay auction popped up recently that included 3 Manitou FS frames and an Iron Horse. The Orbea was from the same seller, different auction, for a decent price. As I understand, the owner of a storage unit filled with bikes passed away and left it to a kind Englishman who sailed the world...

    Manitou 2 Dust seals

https://www.suspensionforkparts.net/eshop/answer-manitou/manitou-dust-seal.html Regarding the melted elastomers, I don’t know if there’s an easy way to clean out the goo. I used automotive hand cleaner (Goop) and a bottle brush. It was labor intensive but it worked. Perhaps something...
