    Olympic Cycles Nottingham...any memories..

I think the blue and white one is most likely an Aende badged as an Olympic. Has it got a frame number or chainstay bridge! If not then definitely an Aende with those drilled lugs. Granville is probably confusing it with my own!

    Olympic Cycles Nottingham...any memories..

The frame builder at Olympic Cycles was Paul Coupe - he is still around and a keen runner now. I was in Beauvale CC in the mid 1980’s when I was a schoolboy and had a frame built for me by Paul. I sold the frame to a friend who used it to commute on but I bought it back off him a few years ago...

Looks like a pretty leighweight build to me - especially with the SL forks And XTR kit.

Wanted Campagnolo down tube lever clip (or levers)

Hi. I need a down tube lever clip for my latest renovation as it doesn’t have any gear lever bosses on the frame. I already have some Campagnolo levers so hopefully someone will have something suitable? Cheers

Do you think this is a Raleigh frame? Its been resprayed..

That isn’t a Raleigh - the stay caps and bottom bracket are all wrong. Still a nice frame though.

I’m not sure what paint system they use but they do lots of Raleighs. The shop is called Universal Cycle Centre and they do have a Facebook page along with a virtual bike museum in the shop too! I trust this helps!

Yes - I can certainly agree with that too. It is all about the thrill of the hunt for those elusive bits and in restoring something, whether it be a simple component or a whole bike, back to how it should be. There is nothing better than stripping each component down into its own component...

Raleigh Gran Sport 1983 - Bringing it back from the dead

Re: February 2021 Update - I have dropped the frame off with Catherine at Universal Cycle Centre for a repaint in the original colour and have dropped the forks off to be rechromed in Nottingham. This project is now beginning to cost serious £ but hopefully the end result will be worth it!!
