Hi, if your post is for me, I'm afraid the frame is no longer for sale, I've decided to hang on to it.

    1984 Raleigh Record Ace build

Hi As I've posted this one in September RBotM I'd better do a quick build thread. Picked up a cheap 84 RRA frameset off Ebay as it was my size (21.5") and I was looking for another project (not really but I couldn't turn it down). I knew from the start that I wouldn't be putting drops on it so I...

rBoTM RBotM September 2024 - Open Month - Entries now Open!!!

I'll go first then! 1984 Raleigh Record Ace, built from a cheap Ebay frameset. Just completed yesterday and only ridden around the local park this morning. Surprisingly no adjustments required and rides lovely. Obviously a non-standard colour but it had been professionally re-painted at some...

    Where else to sell?

I said a few years ago that I would really thin out my bicycles and related stuff by the age of 70. I've only got 2 years to go now:- "How's it going?" the answer is "Not very well". The main problem is that stuff is not selling well and there is loads of good stuff around that's a heck of a...

    It was different back then!

I remember back in '64, when I was 8, being frogmarched back home by the local bobby for riding on the pavement. A couple of years later I was stopped and driven 6 miles home in a police car by two bobbies for having only one working brake, my mate had to caddy the bike home - served him right...

    RRA "special"

A quick update, browsing the V-CC archives online I found a Raleigh brochure from 1974 which actually pictures the original owner of my bike. I know his name was Anthony Crump and the seller (nephew) told me he worked at Raleigh, possibly a manager, and the bike was built for him, as mentioned...

    Tyre / rim problems :(

I use Michelin World Tour, Panaracer Pasala and Schwalbe Marathon wire beaded tyres on vintage Weinmann hookless rims and have had no problems at up to 80psi. Folding tyres are a no-no.

For those who know how to braze

I learned back in the 1970s as part of my apprenticeship at the Royal Ordnance Factory Nottingham, ROF (N). I opted to become a sheetmetal worker and spent the next 4 years in the sheetmetal shop fabricating components for such projects as the 105mm Lightweight gun, Eager Beaver military...
