Raleigh "not a Stratos" any help what frame it is?

Just found the same frame - here on Retrobike. Interestingly it's another French import and the owner thinks it might be a Competition. https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1982-raleigh-competition.385445/

Raleigh "not a Stratos" any help what frame it is?

Raleigh "not a Stratos" any help what frame it is?

Looks like our European friends didn't mind getting their shorts oily on a bare brake cable :)

Raleigh "not a Stratos" any help what frame it is?

Not sure about the drop out manufacturer until I see the bike but that one looks a pretty good match! What model is it -RRA or Team Replica? I've Googled the bike forums and found a couple of frames that look similar - both RRAs from the early 80s - one from France and one from Holland, pics below.

Raleigh "not a Stratos" any help what frame it is?

I've not seen the bike in person yet but will take a look at the drop-outs. Gran Sport sounds like a good shout though. Apart from the forks the brake cable stops are the strange thing as bare cable stops are usually below the centre line of the top tube - not above. Looking at the catalogues...

Raleigh "not a Stratos" any help what frame it is?

Hi a mate bought this bike, it's badged as a Stratos but I'm sure it's not. The seller was the widow of an ex-Raleigh employee and the bike was like this when he "got" it with the exception of the flat bars. I suspect it was decalled as a Stratos to get it "out the side door". My question is :-...

Raleigh record ace flying gate, seatpost oddity

I'd estimate about £400 max for the components, the frame is just curiousity value. unless real Raleigh provenance can be found. Call me suspicious.

Raleigh record ace flying gate, seatpost oddity

Certainly a strange one that. I'd like to see Tony Hadlands "evidence" that Raleigh built these from modified RRA frames as the only parts that appear common to an RRA Model 26 ( post war) frame are the forks. Possibly built from pre 1938 RRA Model 45 frames, but even if that was the case...

    Vintage French randonneuer's and porteurs.

I'm surprised someone hasn't chimed in to say they've bought it! If it was nearer to me I probably would have - despite having a garage full of projects.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364563717824?hash=item54e1b0dec0:g:jhsAAOSw7ZNk1IFX I know this ought to be in the Ebay/Market watch form but it's probably more relevant here.

    Henry Lloyd bike history

Sorry to hear you've not managed to make contact, I'll keep asking around. H Lloyd (the decal people) should be able to make the decals, or you could try " I Say Ding Dong" https://www.isaydingdong.co.uk/ I've bought from them in the past, no idea of the costs for custom jobs though.

Why do you collect retro bikes?

Retired and wound back the clock 50 years to buy a few of the bikes I could never afford as a teenager.

How much are these stronglight cranks?(and super record front mech)

Front mech 25-30. Stronglight 49D 60-70 as it's a nice early one. Those would be my prices to sell them, if you want them to hang around a bit ask for +30%.

Lovely Paramount in Worksop, only £75

I remember reading on a forum a few years ago something about his wife being Filipina and that they eventualy moved to the Philipines. Their daughter Yasmin responded and was pleased to hear from people who knew him. https://the5thfloor.cc/aende-bikes/

Pongos frames were not serial numbered - allegedly something to do with book keeping and the taxman. Certainly mine wasn't.

That's lovely! Good job I don't do Facebook otherwise I'd buy it and then I'd have even less room in the garage!
