Klein Stage 1997 roadbike for sale - lovely condition.

Re: I struggled for a long time getting photos on here - however if you’ve got an iPhone there’s an app called Image Size which reduces the size of your photos from MB to KB. (Android probably has something similar I guess).

    Dawes Galaxy Tour 531

The last thing I needed was another touring bike and one was dangled into my lap. I couldn't say no. It was given to me by a good friend, with a bag full of parts in return for a favour, she cost me nothing and I needed a lockdown challenge so... She's a Dawes Galaxy Tour with a 531 frame. I...

    Time for a rant, prices

I did some part time work putting bikes together in Halfords before Christmas and getting these Apollo's lifted out of the box nearly put my back out. I suspect the vast majority of the £198 winning bid will be spent on postage costs. £198!!!! OMFG.

    Corratec Superbow

Here's some finished photos of my completed Corratec Superbow. Chain Reaction had a bargain basement price on the chainset and well, it's green, but it turns and changes gear nicely. Had to buy some green bar end plugs to keep my OCD at bay. Kept the 8 speed rear mech and cassette from my old...

    2000 Marin Mount Vision Build

Re: I’d been intending having a full overhaul for years but I wanted her finished for doing a 3 day 120 mile off-road ride on the Sandstone Way in Northumberland. Honestly, she was every bit as good as the modern Kona’s and Specialized machines my mates were riding. Having said that I dread...

    2000 Marin Mount Vision Build

Re: I usually ride with a Camelbak but I had to use the top tube bottle mount last summer as I was humping a massive bloody rucksack along the Sandstone Way. T’was originally a 1998 Mount Vision but I had to upgrade the swingarm so I could use disc brakes. I think the front part of the frame is...

    2001 GT IDrive 5.0

Re: Were the iDrive’s the ones with a massive bottom bracket shell? The cobwebs in my mind cloud my memory of seeing these in shop windows BITD!

    2000 Marin Mount Vision Build

I struggled for ages trying to reduce picture sizes down for the Retrobike website. Eventually I came across an app in the App Store (I'm sure Android will have something similar) called 'Image Size'. You can import your photos and reduce the size down from big MB size files to much smaller KB...

Re: There’s an app called ‘Image Size’ if you’ve got an iPhone. It reduces the size of your pictures to something Retrobike will accept - MB to KB!

Re: Perfect for anyone who’s doing a ‘98 Marin Mount Vision / East Peak / Rift Zone. Quite an unusual length in which to find anything decent like this these days. GLWTS.

Parts for charity project (warning - long read ahead)

Re: Great story. Message me your address and I can have a rustle around the man cave - I’m sure I’ve got some older front and rear mechs snd probably some other bits n bobs too. I don’t mind posting them. It might take me a week to send them but it’s all for a good cause.

    H Rensch pre-war Tandem?

Re: Most of the bikes we get are a bit more modern do we do them up and sell them at our workshop. Bikes like this we usually leave intact for a specialist buyer to refurb themselves. So yes, we’ll be selling it.

    Is this a real DeRosa?

Re: Does it have a heart cut out of the bottom bracket? I’m sure I read somewhere (prob on here somewhere to be honest) that steel de Rosa frames of this this vintage had that?

    H Rensch pre-war Tandem?

Re: It’s a real beauty - I’ll take some more pictures tomorrow. I’ve never seen brakes like them either. I should post a video as they have an interesting movement. The lady who donated it said her and her husband bought it second hand in 1968 when they got married and used it regularly...

Marin East peak 1999 headset help

Re: Here’s a picture of the headset I removed from my 98 Mount Vision. I replaced mine with a lovely black Hope effort. Anyhoo, the top cup still has ‘Aheadset’ on it, the caged bearings were shot so they’re long gone.

Marin East peak 1999 headset help

Re: I’ve got a picture of the original headset which I removed from my 1998 Mount Vision which I imagine will be identical. I’ll try and post a picture here later on. Hope that helps.

    H Rensch pre-war Tandem?

I work for a charity who refurbish donated bikes. We get all sorts, but we picked this beauty up this morning, I wondered if anyone knew anything about it? It’s branded H Rensch, who I believe stopped using that name during WW2 because it sounded a bit too German - became Paris Cycles after...

    Team Marin, Mount Vision

Re: 19” was the largest size Marin did in this frame (a 1998 model) I think - and it is very big. I’m 6 ft and ride a 17.5” version of the same frame and it’s spot on. I tried the 19” version in the shop back in the day (Denton Cycles Newcastle - RIP) and it was way too big and I usually take a...
