    A nice thick layer of anodising, then paint, with corrosion inhibitor on top (LPS3). Then keep it away from things that will damage the coatings (chains!) and electrolytes (sweat and road salt) and cow and sheep shit. :LOL: In reality keeping it washed & lubed is about all you can do.

    Thats exfoliation corrosion. The corrosion migrates along the materials grain boundries its particularlly common in the higher strength alloys 2024, 7075 etc. I have seen bits of aircraft structure that looks like a well thumbed paperback :oops:
