Er, not sure about keeping it together, history is something but this bike really is just a mishmash of parts at this stage. Getting some decent forks/headset/wheel rims will be key to getting it up to scratch.
Sians story is interesting though and as for her cafe, we had a similar situation in...
Not quite over the line yet but it's now rideable;
It needs more red. I do have an anodised red chainring but it's just too much.
Seatpost is getting two new bolts and some bar plugs need fitting. Stem feels a bit long at 130mm but I'll see how it goes. Very happy so far but it's not finished...
Something was wrong with the rear wheel and removal of the freewheel exposed this, new parts for Hadley hubs aren't easy to find.
Closest looking one from Amazon;
Some time on the lathe;
And the rear wheel was reassembled with a new(er) rim.
I find ti frames have dropouts that look like they are machined from a single piece rather than pressed / the rack bits brazed on and then more obviously welded to the stays, where this looks brazed as there are no obvious welds, potential rust around the top tube cable stop, no welding around...
The old tyres were slipping around the rims unless I pumped up beyond what is reasonable. A new set of Schwalbe Road Cruisers in 1.75" sorts that.
I've got some centre caps now just not fitted, changed the pedals and sorted the bottom bracket. This thing is amazing 😊
Need a better phone now...
