Always liked these, I have a major itch for a transverse vtwin, never quite got around to buying myself a Guzzi when I was riding and these are pretty rare these days

If you want reliable then you won't go far wrong with Suzuki tbh and the Vitaras are a solid choice, they are always a little bit dated looking and can feel a little tinnier than some of the more expensive options but I've never known anyone buy a Suzuki and not be happy with it, they'll be on...

Honda Jazz gearbox issues were with the CVT's weren't they? I thought manual was fine

We only get the Soul here as an EV now, the ICE versions never sold well. If those CVT's in the Murano are the same as what is fitted to the Qashqai here then they are not reliable unfortunately. The Toyota's have a good CVT though and make for a very relaxing driving experience.

Ohh, Honda Jazz is a great shout as well, bit of an image problem but a great car and super practical

Yup can't go wrong with a Kia Rio/Hyundai i20 (same car essentially), I wouldn't go bigger than that unless you need to be hauling lots of people/stuff regularly as you'll be adding complexity and cost for no real benefit. If you want to stretch a bit further on price a Yaris or Corolla hybrid...

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

That is the main thing I took from it yes because you appear to have checked the vertical alignment of the hanger and tweaked it (and well done for doing so) but then ruled out the alignment being the issue for your continued indexing problems. I'm pointing out that you haven't completed the...

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

You not going to check the alignment on the horizontal axis as well then, or take a closer look at that jockey wheel cage?

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

If you think that's even close to straight you might need your eyes checked. The hanger is bent and the jockey cage is mangled as well by the looks

    For Sale 2000-ish Steelman Manzanita

Ohhh man that is beautiful and tempting at that price. Not sure I could put together a build to do it justice though so would end up being sat for some time. Please someone else take the temptation away 🤣

    Surly Cross Check Project Thread

That's lovely, I like the 2x without derailleur setup at the front, never thought of doing that. I have a super compact on the front of mine with a Surly single speed outer ring. What's the chain retention like on the inner ring like with that setup?
