    1992 Kona Hei Hei -- and it's a 20"

This may have been posted before as it's been advertised for three weeks, but I couldn't find anything on here. Would love to have the ability to get this in my sweaty grasp -- a nice large size. And it seems to have a few nice bits on it too...

    Today's Ride

It's an eternal conundrum, isn't it? Stopping for pics can be an unwelcome interruption, but posting wihtout them is like the starter without the main course. Speaking of which, we've had 36 hours' rain since my aborted ride on Monday but it finally abated late this afternoon, so I took off...

    Today's Ride

Very changeable weather here today -- started sunny with patchy cloud and soon there was rain, on and off in short bursts. Set out mid-afternoon on the Jake and almost immediately realised worse weather was on the way, with a dark shelf of cloud to the north emanating grumbling thunder...

    Well. That was easy.

Wow, that's a piece of luck! What was the $175 for?

    Today's Ride

Took off early this morning to cram in a ride before Easter eating and drinking kicked in. Both sons are home and were snoring in their pits as I left. Cool morning but bright and clear -- very nice to be out on the dirt. Spent some time mooching around some overgrown trails outside town, got...

    Today's Ride

I can testify that this is indeed a possible and even frequent phenomenon. Just like it's possible for a ride to be uphill going both out and back.

    The Health and Nutrition Thread

This is it pretty much in a nutshell. Most of my rides are too short to require much in the way of fuelling apart from water. Getting that hydration in is essential. And then rest. I find my approach has evolved over the years to incorporate both 'science' and 'feel' -- heeding good nutrition...

    Today's Ride

Definite wintry vibes today: overcast and chilly, following some weeks of nice autumn sunshine. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours bleeding the faulty front Hope Mono Mini on the Salsa, which I'd been putting off for months. Turned out to be much easier than anticipated, so was chuffed to be...

    Question re new Hope brakes

I decided recently to splash out on a new front brake for my 'number 1' MTB -- the original has seen a lot of action and is very tired, and rather than the mess and hassle of refurbishing the system, I opted for a new one. The brake eventually turned up and as ever was a lovely piece of kit --...

    Today's Ride

Our warm, dry autumn continues. Sunny, 25C, light breeze today. We had friends staying, but they left early to drive back to Sydney before the afternoon rush, so I had the chance to head off on the Jake. Took it easy, feeling quite good, enjoying the weather and the unexpected freedom...

1998 Kona Explosif work in progress

I have it nicely tucked away ready for a refurb! I am wrestling with the idea of a full strip-down of the bike, maybe a respray, and rebuild with nicer parts. But I'm enjoying riding it right now, so will have to debate this with myself for a while longer.
