    1990 MB Dronfield restomod build

Old single pivot brakes like Weinmann are very lightweight and cheap, most dual pivot brakes are quite heavy unless you spend quite a lot of money on something which is only going to slow you down anyway. For better performance you just pull a bit harder.

Totally Stoked - Stokes of London

Try brake fluid on the hoods, it works on crumbly tyres by replacing the plasticisers. Plasticisers are added to brake fluid to keep rubber brake hoses supple, but as the hoods are probably just latex, it may not work. Makes you glad you kept that half a jar of old brake fluid for ten years.

    Brompton going tits up?

The amount of "profit" a company chooses to declare is purely up to the company accountants and is determined by the balance sheet and whether the directors choose to pay themselves in salaries or dividends. There may be a complicated relationship with holding companies and investors and...

    Alan frame with stuck seatpost

Yes absolutely I do, I am confident that technology has moved on in those 50 years. With the use of modern materials the bonded areas would be stronger than the rest of the frame. I think you must have heard of carbon fibre.

He's stuck in the era of  evo-stik . Nowadays there is a technical bonding agent guaranteed for any use. Just needs a bit of research and work.

Dyna-tec frame failure caught on camera

Well yeah baking 30 year old glue was never going to contribute to the restoration process. I watched the video before seeing this thread and I thought it was overkill and the frame looked fine before stripping it. Sheer wanton vandalism to get a few more clicks, which has been rather successful...

    PSA 27" Gatorskins £6.99 at Wiggle/CRC

Thanks OP for the notification just grabbed a couple. To qualify for £20 spend and free postage while I was in the shop I stuck an 8 speed microshift cassette under my hoodie as my 7 speed mountain bike is worn out but I do have some nice 8 speed shifters in da shed

Lemond Alp D'Huez - frame corrosion

Use a metal filled epoxy, lightweight body filler has no strength.

    Chewed up campy dropouts

I'd build them up with a steel filled epoxy resin, then fit the wheel a bit further back where the metal's still good.
