Today's Ride

Some great weather we are having. I went for a pleasant wobble around this morn when it was still a bit misty and chilly. As the ride went on the sun started seeing off the mist and it warmed up loads. Very refreshing and enjoyable it was.

The next week is looking good for us in the south of the UK. Mid to high 20's as a peak.

I felt like a more leisurely ride today and was itching to ride this Phantom again, so I ventured out after Sunday Dinner to catch the last hour or so of the weekend sunshine.

Despite being the epitome of 1930's cycling refinement, this thing weighs a ton....in a good way. It is as smooth as you like.

Well it was, until there was a 'Ping!' and a strange sound, A spoke broke in the front wheel. Been a while since that has happened, especially when riding 'normally' So I stopped, tucked it inside the others and rode on.

Despite being a spoke down, the bike didn't seem to care, so nor did I. (I've been meaning to rebuild these wheels for a while, so that's moved up the 'to do' list now!)

The park was emptying out as everyone's thoughts turned to the working week ahead.

The hilly bits on a single speed reminded my how much I use gears normally, so my leisurely ride included a fair bit of puffing at times 😄.

But as the sun went down and I rode home, the smile on my face reminded me why I have a shed full of junk at the bottom of my garden :)

Lovely looking bike there :)

Hazy, turning into sea mist then fog on higher ground for the first 15 minutes before burning off. High cloud with clear skies inbetween. Chilled 8 degrees, with a 10-12mph SE breeze, rising a little higher by the end of the ride.

A great way to start another busy week 👌
