Help Identifying a Tange Prestige Frame

Hi All,

I have been looking for a steel frameset to replace my alu Merlin UK and saw this frame on Marketplace and thought I would take a punt, but for the life of me cannot identify it.

Hopefully the attached pics may help and any help would be greatly appreciated. The remaining headset cups are Tange Seiki Technoglide so do not doubt this is Tange Prestige.

Many thanks

Have the gear cable guides been cut off? There's also no 'hole on the BB to position the plastic cable guide either. Very odd. Haven't a clue what it is unfortunately. Maybe an after market Prestige sticker on a non-Prestige frame?

Hi trailwright, the FD is top pull and the RD cable runs along the DS seat stay so no need for a BB cable guide.

Spookily, I have just found this on Marketplace. That is the frame I have and Minster Cycles is based in Beverley not far from me. This bike even has the same Specialized triple chainset that came with my frame.

How far from you is the shop? , up for very gentle chatty slow rides.
I'm being nagged to get some people out riding, which means I'll have to ride again. Been off the bike for way too long.

Me too. I find it increasingly hard to justify the number of bikes when I'm not riding them often.

It looks like a copy of a 1994 DiamondBack Axis, similar finish, same cable routing - but wrong frame number, wrong type of steel and no cantilever stop - so it's 1997 or later.
The frame number is most likely WS7050221 - unsure what that other number is. The first '7' in the frame number would assume a 1997 but the WS is unknown at this point.
