Mike, naturally I wasn't party to that.. so yes, you are right, you should get them. Ahh greed, its a beautiful emotion.

They are still going on eBay mate. It's not for us to decide how things are sold. Unless they are ours to sell.

I won't be able to bid on eBay myself. Unless I can find someone to bid for me so I'm happy offering my assistance for Nuno if he wins.

Best of luck to all who decide to bid on eBay. They are amazing cranks. I hope they aren't bought to re sell. They should be on something amazing.

I think this thread has run it's course now. We should wait for a eBay listing and then try not to spam it with talking again. Just bid and try to buy if you want them.

For me, these cranks are not a "wow look at that, neat! I'll have em" kind of purchase... not that there's anything wrong with that at all...

It's just that I've been after a set of these to complete a build I have been trying to replicate for TEN YEARS... a bike I had during my more youthful days. I have been trying to re-create the bike (the original of which is no longer in my hands) and this is literally the last piece left. Mine were 170 length, so not exactly same, per se... but you get the picture as to how special/detailed this is for me.

I also understand that someone saw the post and spoke up first, and I respect that - I was hoping that people, especially those on this site, would appreciate and understand my reasoning and need... but if not, I respect that, too.

But now that they are going to go up on eBay, I am willing to duke it out. I am not going to be stupid, because I have a young family to feed, but they're important enough to me to have a go.

Just my thoughts. And yes, this thread is getting silly! :D

Hilarious thread!

I love the fact that people are getting all incredulous over 'dibs' and PM orders. This is why all this crap should be banned; it's the sellers item, it's up to him to sell to whoever he wants - be that the first person, the nicest person or the person with the best 'X-factor sob sorry about how is dying granddad wanted him to have a set'.

They will sell well on eBay.

Dear backintheday,

I'm back again and although I don't feel I ought to have to justify my actions to an internet topic board. If you want the whole convoluted story here it is:

1. I posted the cranks as I'm never goingto use them. They've been waiting to build into something retro for a while and I now have too many bikes
2. I didn't know what forum to post in so foolishly posted in both. I won't do that again. I also neglected to mention that I would prefer not to have the hassle of sending abroad. I assumed (wrongly) this was a UK site and wouldn't have many overseas members.
3. I got what in my view were two fairly non-commital responses from nogueira.nuno and KonaJJ asking for more detail. Is that agreement to buy? I didn't think so.
4. I got a PM from Mikeekim asking if I was interested in swaps, which again I wasn't sure if it was a commitment to buy, or a question of whether we could do a swap deal.
5. I got several PMs with questions about posting overseas from members and responded on the thread by saying I'd rather not post overseas.
6. Mikeekim's argument persuaded me that he ought to be the rightful winner and I started to deal with him. However, I'm nervous about bank transfers and would prefer paypal payment. He couldn't offer this very easily.
7. Then there was an argument about who really was the rightful winner, interspersed with people pointing out that I can sell the cranks to whoever I like.
8. With all this whining, I thought the neatest solution would be to stick them on eBay and let you lot sort it out yourselves. If you don't want them, or think I've been disingenuous, then don't bid.

Finally, it now appears that the general consensus is that Mikeekim has the "rightful" first dibs. This is what I was trying to establish earlier. He has also been the most gracious throughout the arguments on here. This post was not an auction and I think it is a fair price for some very cool old-school cranks. If he still wants them at £80 and can arrange a PayPal payment he can have them. If he wants to let Hova have them as he's clearly a man on the edge in need of these cranks then that's fine too.

Mikeekim, please can you send me a PM before 3pm if you still want them. Otherwise they can go on eBay.

I also have some other retro bikes I was going to sell, but I think eBay is the less hassle way of doing it. Shame.

Now let the next round of whining commence....

First reply on the other thread. With a ribs request and a PM sent.

Now. This topic is over. I think it should be left too fall and maybe we should be nicer with the next thread this 2manybikes makes.

I see, when people ask for info in a thread i would take it they are keen in the item themselves. :?

Nicly done 2manybikes :)

Incidentally I was one who contacted him suggesting he bayed them for more money, it's not nice to see bickering on here.

May good karma go your way.
